NCSHP Stangs

i would think they sell them at the state surplus sale near the fairgrounds. i'm not really sure of that though. some of the regular police cars get a bad paint job and light removal and are then auctioned off. i love the sticker they kept in them "keep vehicle in overdrive when in hot pursuit".

For once, someone has the passion for the old marked mustangs. Unfortunately, they are all gone. The (just retired) Colonel of the NCSHP is a good family friend. We were talking about them one day and there is one left. It is at the Troop C headquaters on Blue Ridge road. If you ever pass by there, you can see the mustang fully marked at the logistics garage. It is in very good condition and everything works inside. My future plan is to reproduce that car......if I can't jump the fence and drive it home!

I don't have a NCSHP Mustang but I do have a SCSHP car. I got mine from an individual who purchased (auction) lots of state vehicles. As stated above all marked vehicles were given a shotty paint job and resold as something really special. Don't get me wrong it's cool to own one. There is a lot of mystique about them. The reality is that from a performance standpoint they are nothing special. Florida seems to be the only state that as general rule didn't have them repainted. The reason why I opted for the SC car was that it had a five speed. Lots of mods later it doesn't much look like a police interceptor except for the 160 mph speedo and rear trunk release button.

Correct, they were painted and actioned off like the other cruisers normally are.

I never met the former Colonel, but I did know Colonel Barefoot and my dad graduated from the Trooper Academy with the new Colonel. NC Troppers are the best IMHO.
Dad had a Tropper Mustang for about 6 months and traded it in for a Crown Vic, said the ride was just too stiff. Go figure!

Let me know if you decide to jump the fence, I'll help! :D
