was looking around this morning for no reason really and i found a 2003 Cobra Saleen with 8,000 miles on it. they only want $32,900 for it....geez, is that too good to be true? it's very tempting, i can easily sell my S281SC and get that one without too much trouble. a fully loaded saleen with the terminator motor in it? what do you guys think? it's the best of both worlds... the ad states that is has a turbo, but i'm thinking that whoever made the ad at the dealership either was ignorant or made a mistake. i've got both the VIN # and the Saleen serial # that i could check out through carfax and saleen. anyone interested in buying mine if i put it up for sale? it's an 01' with 19,000 miles on it. i have the stock parts for everything that i've done to it, which ain't much. haha... also has LoJack and two other alarms, the window sticker, and original paperwork. i'll let you guys know because if i can't buy it, i'll give up the location to a good Saleen home.

i've already talked to my bank about this car this morning. just to let anyone know who's interested, if i sell my car i'd be looking to move quickly so lemme know. i can get pics of my car up asap, minus the hood i just bought and my painted calipers and new emblems. calling the dealer, saleen and checking carfax for further when i can to see about the cobra...

ok, well i did some research and found that the deal was too good. lol. i called the dealer and found out that the "cobra" saleen is actually a 2003 S281SC. he claims that saleen put the cobra emblems on there but i find that hard to believe. why would they do that? i'm guessing whoever had it put those on there for some reason. it's not the cobra motor and it's a five speed, not a six. i looked for and found a real 04' cobra saleen for $55,000. out of my budget to say the least. i called saleen about FIVE times today and either didn't get anyone to answer or never got to speak with someone in tech to ask about the serial # on the car. typical saleen service.... anyhow, it's not the car i thought it might be.

sal, tell your buddy to look on autotrader.com, maybe it's just the southeast or something but looking around on there i find a bunch of saleens for sale. maybe your buddy is willing to travel? i went to CO. for mine when i bought it.

So where can we find more information about these Saleen Cobras? I am contemplating buying one, but I guess my main concern is it really worth the extra dough ($53000 for a new '04 black Saleen Cobra convertible).

I always get the arguement that it will holds its value more than a regular Cobra, but I can not find any concrete information. So what I'm really interesting in knowing is how much will it depreciate over time. Can you guys give me an estimate of how much it would be worth 2-3 years from now.
