Flowtech Longtube Headers suck!!!

I put on some longtube flowtech headers on my 2.3 - 5.0 swap. i tried to save some money while still buying longtubes so i bought the flowtech longtubes until i had some extra cash to buy better ones. these f-in suck. first of all my starter keeps going out cause it gets to hot. second of all to change the starter i have to lift the motor up a little bit so i can move the header to take out the starter. what a sh--ty design. i guess you get what you pay for here. do not buy these headers they suck. plus you have to cut your k-member to have the driver side header fit correctly which even after that it still doesn't fit snugg without any air leaks. i hate those little psst psst psst sounds. again these headers suck don't buy them.

i am taking suggestions on long tubes with a better design that you have personally used on your car. i understand the heat facter i need to get a heat shield but all the other BS i am not sure if it is worth having long tubes

I have mac l/t and i think they are horrible, way too low, install was a pain, and they rub against my steering column. I took off my bbk's cause they were rusted and had about 10 holes. Should have bought another pair. hope this helps

I had a friend put Flowtech Long Tubes on his Stang After I told him NOT to. He regret's it.....They fit like S**T.
Stick with the phrase, "You Pay For What You Get."
Flowtech is a division of Holley as well as Hooker Headers. Flowtech is Holley's solution to having an affordable header out on the market. Hooker is Holley's premium header line and is quite a bit more money but atleast your getting some quality.

I went w/ mac LT's. I also have the steering shaft rubbing problem. The one tube needs to be heated and bent slightly. It's nothing major but still a flaw in the design. Seem to fit pretty good otherwise. Might try BBK's next time. I've heard a lot of good things about them.

I had the Flowtech longtubes. Didn't have quite the issues you do though. In fact, the only reason I got rid of them is cuz the tube that goes over the steering column had no hope of fitting when I installed my flaming river setup. I did burn through my starter wire a couple times but fixing it took me 30 minutes. Here's a hint, it's a LOT easier taking apart the passenger header than lifting the motor up.

soo the problem you have is fitment eh? that blows.... You can rule out the starter because thats a common problem with ALL longtubes soo you cant blame that company for blowing out starters. Heck, my equal length headers heat soak my starter as it is.. You HAVE to buy a mini high torque starter,unless you already have one

i put a heat wrap around my mini starter and have had no issues.(knock on wood).. try that

I have the problem with the steering shaft rubbing against my tubes aswell. Actually it is bad enough that while turning corners with the car in neutral, the car some times stalls because of the resistance on the pump. Going to get this fixed this week end by grinding down the corners on the shaft that are rubbing.

One of my friends has them on his Notch. They were a pain to install. He also had teh rubbing issue with the steering shaft. He dented the headers and looks like it fixed that.

I bought those, and still have them to. When I went to put them on and saw that I needed to cut the k-member, it was over for them. So I got some nice ceramic shorties that fit real nice.

I've got heddman long tube headers on my car. Didn't have a problem with mine. They were cheap too. I paid 100 bucks for them new. Only thing is they have the 3 bolt 3" collector. You probably don't want that.
