4:10's, 3:90's, or 3:73's

Fist is nothing more then a tire roaster. 1st is maxed out at 15mph. I hit 2nd leaving my driveway and its only 40ft long. LOL!

It does make the kids happy when they say "Roast 'em!"

And I can get a chirp going from 4th into 5th @100mph.

The car is pretty much topped out at 120mph though...

I said pretty much topped out...around 3800rpms maybe 4k... and I wouldnt want to hold it at that speed for too long so to me thats topped out....1500rpms until redline maybe a little more but not much. My car would need a huffer and another gear to do 180. :)

I will try to take some pics.

to the original poster: You have a 2004, it has the tremec... definately go with 4.10's

You have to remember that a lot of people freaking out about 4.10s have a 2001 or lower which has the other tranny. For the most part those are the people that are considering 3.73's BUT 3.73's on an early 01 are pretty much equal to 4.10's on an 04 as far as RPM's are concerned.
With 4.10's at 70 you should be right around 2330 RPM which isn't bad at all.

they say that 4.10's and 4.30's are good for the 4.6's and they dont recommend any smaller. the old 5.0's say 3.73's are good because of their RPM band. because we have a much different rpm band, we need 4.10's or 4.30's. they recommend 4.30's for cobras (which is what i am getting for mine) so we can get up our RPM band quickly. alot of people using 4.30's have no problems cruising around and sacrificing a little bit to be a bit faster.
if u are gonna get a blower, try at least 4.10's or lower. im sure 4.10's can stand up to a blower.

About me keeping 4.10's when I plant a KB onto my 4.6 with an automatic? You liked that?

Just curious...but how close do you think your "T56 6-speed, FRPP 3.55" is to my Automatic, FRPP 4.10's?

:)

Automatic? Yeak :( I hope the tranny can take it!
Anyway there is 5% or so more transmission loss. The manual ( 5 or 6 speed) always get the advantage.
The 4.10 with KB would be just more wheel spin, the 3.55 or 3.73 at least get you moving :p

i had 3.73's & never installed them in almost a year & half..........finally sold them. my thinking was with 3.27's i finish 1/4 @ about 103-104mph & in 3rd gear @ redline.
i knew with another mod & even 3.55's i would have to shift to 4th.
i was also worried about gas mileage.
i just thought if i am gonna shift to 4th gear i might as well get the use of it.
with my mods & some valve springs & a tune by sct to bump my redline i will probably get 115mph+ out of 4th gear. on N/A you should go 4.30's or 4.56's for street/strip action.
but for DD 4.10's are the best (actually 4.00 would be perfect for me but i rounded up to 4.10's instead of down to 3.90's).
my only problem with 4.10's is when racing any place other than the strip most races go a little beyond 103-104mph (around here anyways).....more to like 115-125mph which would suggest that it is a little longer than 1320ft.

so with 4.10's you shift to 5th @ 110mph..........while your opponent stays in his 4th gear. 3.27's pull harder in 4th gear over 115mph than 4.10's do in 5th gear over 115mph.

i would be willing to bet if your only mod being 3.73's your 1/4 mile ET will gain no more than a tenth & very good chance it will stay same or get worse til you learn to launch.
with 4.10's you will get @ least 2 tenths & up to 5 tenths once launching is learned.

Agreed with everything but this:D

with 4.10s and stock tire height, if you run the car to say 6200, you are running a little over 115, if you "only" run it to 6k, then you are at 112.In order to be at 110 when you shift, you are taching 5900.Stay in it:)

If you're n/a and plan on staying that way, then I'de go with no less than 4.10's, preferabley 4.30's. I have 4.30s in my daily driver and they are fine for both interstate and city driving. They actually rock around town.

Since you have a five speed, you'll need a speedcal to correct the speedometer.

whats so bad about 3.90's on a car that is daily driver, and has some other mods, but is n/a? like i said before, if 3.73 isnt enough gear, and 4.10 may be too much for daily driver, then wouldnt 3.90 make sence?
