I am looking for a nice catback system for a 2002 Mustang GT. I have heard that Magnaflow breaths better, but Flowmaster sounds better. Is this true and if so which is a better system? Also is it worth buying an X-pipe?
I bought the magnaflow catted x pipe with the magnapack cat back for my 2001. I have had nothing but compliments on the way it sounds. Everyone that I talked to said I should do the mid pipe right away. I am glad I went that way, there was a noticeable difference in power. But I also did pulleys at the same time.
I have had both catbacks before. I currently have a Magnaflow catback on my 01 GT. The flows are louder, especially under light throttle. The magnaflows sound really deep and mean when you get on it, and pretty quiet when your not really getting on it. Most say that straight thru mufflers like the Magnaflows work better with an X pipe, and flow better than chambered mufflers(Flowmasters). The quality fit and finish of the Magnaflows is better than the Flows. Get the Magnaflows.
Got my Maganflow Magnapacks on today, (finally!) awesome! Quieter than the Flowmaster 40s I had at idle, only by a smidge, but when you give it 1/4 or any more it's much louder. Alot better sound than Flows too, and best of all? No horrible drone on the interstate! 'Packs rock. Magnaflow!
These are gonna be hellishly loud when I get my Magnaflow catted x-pipe.
Sweet Roush you have there. Just goes to show you Tmack, it's all about personal preference! Listen to both and decide. Magnaflow.com has soundclips of their exhaust systems on 99-04 GTs. You can probably find some Flowmaster clips on SN. Also, it's not that I disliked the Flowmasters, the sound was great, just the drone on the interstate was crazy. I drive on the interstate daily so I needed something different.
I had a magnaflow catted x and catback on my 03 cobra and loved the sound, kind of nascarish and now I have the mac catted h and magnaflow catback and it is old school deep, not too loud, on my 04 gt vert
