Ok I see they have a custom CAI for the MACH1, quite obviously this would not work for my application. I'm talking to one place to fab me one, but I dont know if they will be able to do it.
Two things I'm wondering, do any of you CDC Shaker owners have a CAI and if so where did you get it? Second I was looking at the CAIs on the market and wondering if any of them come out exactly the same distance as the stock air box so that I could plasma cut a hole to fit the air tube....

Before some of you say a CAI is a waste of money, I am not doing this for performance, the reason is I really dont like the way the air tube connects to the stock air box, I ended up siliconing the application, but it just doesnt look good, and I tried painting it, but that didn't work either, so for me, for aesthetics a CAI is the way to go.

Thanks in advance for any help

its not a mach1 thats the issue, the connection is a totally different beast, thus the question. I searched all I could and found nothing, CDC wont get back with me as far as a setup, and all the custom CAI makers I've talked to cant do anything w/out the car in front of them (wich is understandable) shes a daily driver so no down time other than an hour or two is acceptable

Mach Clone CAI

As far as i know no CAI maker has a CAI for the MACH clones/CDC shaker kit. the KARCRAFT shaker kit is the closest to the factory setup (uses Ford OEM parts and allows you to use the factory MACH 1 hood) so all after market CAI's will work with it. Now if you just want the look of the shaker and not the function JLT from what i have heard makes a good CAI/RAI. BTW your car looks good with the shaker but i'll keep my 4V MACH 1.

lol, there were no DSG machs when I got the GT, that and the dealer wasnt budgning on the price, I wasnt gonna pay 2k over MSRP for a MACH. I made my own and with everything I've done I think I'm barely to the cost of what I would have had to pay for a white Mach.
Any how I talked to JLT for a custom, he cant do it, even if I sent him the air tube :( I guess I'll ust get something and cut it, if I have to fiberglass it or whatever and rhino line it afterwards so be it, I was just hoping some one else had been down this road.

because as I stated above, I am not happy with the aesthetics of the union of the CDC air tube and the Factory Airbox. It is my personal belief that the plastic air tube would just look and fit better into a metal cover.
Some one with the shaker has had to have done this. The CAI I saw for the MACH 1 was a plastic cover, but the air tube on the MACH is fatter and rounder, so I couldnt just get that and cut it.

Cold Air Intake.... I'll find a pic of the MACH 1 one...

I looked at that one, and similar ones, and I don't see how it improves over the factory air box.

The "shield", as show in that pic, is open, and therefore, can draw the hot under hood air all too easily. No?

The factory air box has that rubber tube (the "silencer" ?), which will pull air only from the inside the fender; air that isn't being heated by passing through the radiator or passing by the engine block. Isn't that cooler air and therefore better???

Like I said I could care less about functionality, its a semi-proven fact that CAIs are almost worthless. I dont want it for performance, I want it for looks.

I'll look into the C&L thank you.
