Winter Storage Questions!!??

I was just curious about what I need to do to my Mustang to have it properly stored for the winter in my garage. The garage is not heated- and all I have done to it thus far is change the oil and give it a thorough cleaning- I ordered my car cover, which should arrive shortly- anything else that I need to do???

Top off the gas tank and add the correct amount of Stabil fuel additive for storage.

Winter Storage "things to do":

- Disconnect battery
- Fuel stabilizer
- Full tank of gas (to keep from rusting)
- Plug exhaust pipes with cloth (prevent critters from getting in etc.)
- Car cover (breathable)
- Baking soda box in the interior (I put two)
- Over-inflate tires to prevent flat spots (40 psi)
- Moth balls under car to keep critters away
- Something to keep battery charged over winter (

Can put dryer sheets in the interior to keep air from getting stale come spring.

Dryer sheets are also good for keeping mice out, they hate those things for some reason. I suggest putting them under the hood to cuz I found a nice little nest right by the intake plenum last spring.

Dumb question here.

Do you guys disconnect the pos terminal on the battery or the neg?

I've seen people do either. Just finalizing the storage of my baby by filling up the tank and adding stabil. I also just put mouse traps down today in my garage and did the dryer sheet thing.

I just wanted to know about the battery since last time my dumbass just left it connected.

I do the negative. That's the one i've always been told to do. I don't know if it actually makes a difference or not.

I store mine in a public storage unit...fuel topped..that's it. Last year every time I went to start it(every 2 weeks or so) battery was dead.I used a portable jump start battery to restart.(read owners manual..there is a technique). This year I'll disconnect negative terminal.HURRY UP SPRING. Have a safe winter everyone.

I've been storing cars for years and have read and been told to NOT start the car until the Spring. Reason is most people (like me) would just start the car in the garage and let it run for 15-20 minutes.

Experts say the car has to be driven to get to true operating temperature and you are better off not starting the car till Spring if you will not drive the car during the winter months (which I don't).

Always stabil and full tank of gas. Silica packets are good for interior and they say to leave one of the windows cracked an inch or so to allow the interior to breathe.

Thanks guys, I'll just disconnect the negative term which is easier anyways since i have amp wire running from the positive that was a bitch to get on.
