Flowmaster Delta 40 Series to loud for a daily driver?

I think it depends on how you drive, if i don't want to attract any attention I just put the car in a higher gear to keep the revs down, then again, if i want to turn heads i leave it in a lower gear. :D

I had a pair of 40-series installed on my '00 GT. 3-days later I went back and had them swapped for a pair of 50-Series (both types were deltaflow). The 40's droned way too much and caused buzzing sounds from the trunk area.

The 50's still give a pretty decent growl without beating the eardrums to death.

Here's the thing: the inside might have a drone around 2k rpms (I have original flows, so I don't really know about delta). I'll tell you this though, if you want to hear it from the outside, I think you will be disappointed. To me, the original 40s are way too quiet as it is...from the outside, it doesnt seem all that different than stock....maybe I'm going deaf, but still..

I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the minimal volume increase on my 95 Cobra when I added the 40s, and equally disappointed when I put them on my 01 GT. In both cases I had to add an off road pipe (h on the cobra, x on the GT).

Nobody knows what you define as loud, but I can tell you that 50 series is VERY conservative...as are delta flows....jusy my opinion

I have delta 40s with stock 6cat mid pipe. It is no where near to loud. I don't like real loud exhaust but I still want it a little louder so I am getting an aftermarket mid pipe. So IMO no they are not to loud for daily drivers.

Gotta be louder now with your new midpipe, eh?, RysRed96GT?
I've got the Flowmaster American Thunder Catback on my 02, and it's pretty tame, but exactly what I expected. At idle, it's quiet and can cruise quietly. But it'll definately make some good noise when wound up and has a nice burble when decellerating.
My wife's 01 GT, with welded in 40's and a custom catted H pipe is loud. It's frightening when revved and will wake the neighbors.
It's really the stock midpipe that keeps things quiet and is the most restrictive part of the exhaust system.

dont get slowmasters

Why not? They are the best sounding exhaust for Mustang's in my opinion. I've heard em all too.

Evenflow, the 40's are louder than stock, but nothing excessive. I drive around Boston all day long past 10-15 cops a day and never change my driving habit for them and nobody cares.

The interior drone is not that bad. With the windows up, you hear a bit of drone at 2K. But if you have the radio up to normal volume, you can't even hear it. I've had plenty of conversations in my car with the radio off without it being a problem. And i actually LIKE the drone too.

It's louder on the outside, but it sounds VERY good. I always get compliments on the sound. It's the typical Mustang with flows sounds. Sounds no different than the originals except they really are quieter on the insides. I have original flowmaster 2-chambers on my '88 and it's louder in the interior.

I might have a digital camera this weekend that can record video. I'll try to get some video of my car's exhaust for you if i can get it to sound good. If not, you are only 25miles away from me if you want to hear it in person :D

I was just going to say that, jeez your pretty close to me. You go to the Mustang show down here in Foxboro a few months back? It was at Rodman Ford.

I like the sound of the 40's. Im not sure about the deltas but the originals sound awesome. I had them on my old 96 stang and they sounded awesome. A bit of a drone on the highway but it was tolerable. I drove it about 50 miles a day to and from school everyday and I survived. They sounded sick. For my 02 i opted to go with the magnapacks just because I wanted something a bit different. Seems now a days that everybody has the packs but thats not to say that they sound mean as heck at WOT
