I need help with taking out one weel lock...

My car was involved in a accident in witch the wheels were ruined... after geting the car back from the body shop they had removed 3 of the wheels that they needed to do the repairs to the car..... one was left on the car and in the mean time they lost the wheel lock... now im replacing the wheels with some new ones and I would like to get the one wheel thats still on the car off but I don't have the wheel lock....... what can there be done to get that one wheel lock off without going to the dealer....

i forget the exact size, but take a 1/2" socket that will just slide over it. then get the next size smaller and beat it over the lock. good luck. i've seen people heat them up too. hopefully yours had some antisieze on it though. all ya good luck getting the socket off the lock

As a last resort (but only useful if you can drive the car), have a welding shop tack weld a hex nut to the locking nut. Then you can remove it with a standard socket or lug wrench. It cost me $10 to have it done (I didn't like the idea of pounding on a lug . . . what does it do to the wheel bearing?).
Another tip: tighten the remaining 4 nuts to 120 ft-lbs before trying to remove the locking nut. This reduces the tension and it will require less force to turn it.

Just go to a tire/wheel shop. Most have a set of master keys. I used to manage a Firestone store and would remove wheel locks for people on a regular basis.

Who knows - if you smile at 'em they might even do it for free!

I just borrowed one from a friend that had an older V6 stang. I was pretty surprised that it was the same. Since then, I have gotten rid of the wheel locks. They are too much hassle, and as you can see if a thief really wants your wheels he will probalby have no problem getting a key for them.

Didn't Have key for mine and I drove a good socket over the lock like 87 blown stang did. Works like a charm. To get lock out of socket, just put socket in vise and use punch to knock wheel lock out.

I had this happen switching from stock to Drag Radials... lost the damn key!

I took mine to the local Ford dealer, they had 4 different boxes of keys to choose from and took it right off for me at no charge. I think I was there for less than 10 minutes.
