Hey everyone.. just got registered here. Wanted to drop in and introduce myself. I don't actually have a mustang yet, but i'm seriously eyeballin' the 4.6L. I was wonderin if anyone had any advice as to what i should look for when buying one. Any little gremlins I should know to look for when i check the dealers?

Thanks in advance,

Eric

I would if I could... I don't have the cash flow for that just yet. LOL. I saw 2 of them on the freeway a little over a week ago. Very hot.

If i were to get a 4.6, late 90's even 2000, what should i look to pay? Don't want to get shafted.. heh.. I've never owned an American car. I have a Dodge Stealth RT/TT right now and wanted to know what it was like to actually own a piece of American muscle.

Not sure, how many miles you are lookin for or what u wanna spend, but I jsut did a quick search on Kelley Blue book and you're look at about 11k on up for a '99+ on up Stang GT.

Hey, thanks for the replies people. I'm sure glad I decided to meet you guys before I bought the car. I was lookin at a 97. Welp.. looks like i'm going to have to practice a little more patience and wait a little longer... Nevertheless, i'll stick around to learn as much as I can about this platform

New

I just picked up a 1999 GT with 39,000 miles for $10500. It is a great performing car so far, I can't wait to get it to the strip for some action. I previously had a 1982 GT 15.75 in the quarter bone stock and a 1998 5.0 LX 5-speed. Bone stock with 2.73 gears my 1988 ran 14.4 so I hoping I can shave a couple of 1/10s with the 1999. Have fun.

96-98 mustangs

the only difference b/w the the 96 to 98s and the 99+ are the heads, which you can buy on ebay now for 350-500 bucks, that is the ONLY big difference b/w them. all i know is that i personally liked the 98s better than the 99+ and with a PI swap and some vt stage 1 cams you can own any 99+. if you can find a killer deal on a 96-98 then i would get it b/c the money you save can be turned around and put right into your car with the PI and cam swap. figure if you have 12000 to spend, instead of getting a 99+ for that amount you could get a 98 for around 9000 and then with the leftover money do the head/cam swap and you would be in the mid 13's!!! :nice:

yo 98 PI stang

was thinking of getting the PI Heads for My 96, probably get like 300 hp out of it then, but what are the vt stage 1 cams? do they increase hp at all, and where can i get myself a set of those...thank you

Hi Eric
Welcome to Stang Net. :flag:

Man, I really appreciate all the help you guys have given me. I'm so glad I decided to come here first. All my life, all-be-it short, i've been an import kind of guy. I never really thought much about domestics until i started reading up. For the same amount i've put into my Stealth, i could have a really hellish stang. *sigh* welp... gotta start somewhere i suppose...

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone !!!

HI guys, im new to the forums, have an 02 GT, i'd recommend mid year 01 or later, if you can afford it, to avoid getting that nasty t-45, and also, you know you can be doing some nasty things in that R/T TT, why don't you look to getting some bigger turbo's, stock block you can run almost 1000 awhp
-Greg
P.S. for 1500 dollars you can get twin 15g turbos, can be running 11's easy, and not need many other mods on that TT, im sorry but there is no 1500 dollar way to get our mustangs into the 11's
