what 2.3 fords came with a front mount intercooler?

Ford Motorsport made a front mount intercooler the same size as the svo IC (smaller).

I've got one on a shelf. Nice unit but to small to be worthwhile.

There's a lot of sweet IC's out there. However, I think the Volvo IC is the easiest front mount to install. It was made for a foxbody.

The turbo probe got a side mount I beleive.
The volvo is a great choice. It is cheap, really easy to mount, and fits great. The downside is a large pressure drop. I have a small Isuzu NPR intercooler I am just waiting to mount up :D.

What FMIC would work good with a larger than stock SVO radiator? I don't think a Volvo will fit without using a ranger radiator but not sure.

turbo probe/mx6 got the front mount ic's. They mounted to the front lower driver side of the radiator support and are a BITCH to get out since you have to take the WHOLE bumper off to get to them.

I usually take my sawzall with me to the pull a part to get them out :jester:

Without going to a narrower radiator, you don't have many options for a front mount. You would have to somehow route the piping outside of the frame rails which probably means some serious cutting.
If you want something better than the stock ranger radiator, look at the 4.0 explorer/ranger. I pulled an awsome aluminum radiator with fine, tightly packed fins off an explorer that has the exact same dimensions as the ranger radiator.

is there a faq in the faq section about how to twist the intake?
Unless you have a TIG welder, you probably won't be doing it yourself. It also requires some precise cutting to get the angle correct so that it clears the hood.
Bob Lee sells intakes which have already been rotated. Try searching here, turboford and your favoirte search engine for "rotated" upper intake and you should be able to find a ton of info about it.

So your kit was the one made for 83-86 TCs????

I have the same exact one aquiring space here. I was told they were pretty rare so I scooped it up.

Does your cooler say ford motorsports on it?
Do you have the T3 compressor elbow?

I have run the volvo cooler and except for blowing the plastic end tanks off of it I was happy with it. I have the small NPR now. I'll be switching them all back around so I can use the NPR on my pinto.

I would look at www.40bob.com/ and see about buying one from him. That is unless you got a mig and have some expreience in doing stuff like this. Now keep in mind people has been doing 2.3T FMIC without a twisted upper intake for years. This works just great unless you really want your car to look clean with less piping under the hood.

I don't have a kit, just the IC and yep, says Ford Motorsports on it.

The question was, "what 2.3 turbo came with a front mount intercooler?" The answer is none. The Volvo is no better than front mounting a stock tc or SVO intercooler. And what is with the gay-assed Google link in EVERY thread?
