I'm looking to do a cam install in the spring myself and have pretty good mechanical knowledge, just have never tried to do a cam install. How hard is it and doesn't anyone know any good sites with how to reference. Also about how long does the process take. I'm lookng to go with a mild cam that doesn't require new valve springs and whatnot. Thanks.

If you don't want to go with a spring upgrade definitely look into VT Stage 1 cams. I have them in my car without a spring upgrade and I gained 33rwhp from them :D
Did you install them yourself? 33rwhp after a tune?

Oh and what mods did you have before the cams... I'm debating cams.

I'm looking for an agressive, "lope-type" idle, like an older muscle car would have, is there such cams for the mod engines that will do that? give it a rough idle?

how does yours sound, different thank stock? rough?

a stage 2 or 3 cam will have a agresssive idle, make sure to keep in mind the bigger the cam the more power it will make up top but you will lose more down low. You will also need to upgrade your valve springs and get gears and a tune if you go with a stage 2 or 3 cam. I hear it takes about 5 hours to do an install.

Steeda did the install of my cams...the 33hp and 13tq that was gained was after a superchips tuning. The lope of the car is a mild lope but you can definitely tell there is a cam in the car...I get numerous people that come up and compliment on the sound of the cams. Before the cams I had a Steeda CAI, Accufab TB and Plenum, Steeda Intake Spacer, Steeda T/A, Steeda Underdrive Pulleys, Bassani O/R Xpipe, Steeda SS Cat Back, 3:73 and Steeda's N/A computer flash.

yeah, and in some cases big ass cams require aftermarket intake and exhaust.

cams aren't tough unless you're doing the springs. doing the springs properly is just time consuming...
