I have a stock 289 66'mustang with drum brakes, points and condensor and I have a chance to pick up a 80 ish granada real cheap I know I can use the disc brake stuff off the front of it ( still a little cloudy on the conversion but there is enough print on it for me to figure it out) The granada has a 302 in it, can I take the distributor out of it and convert it to my 289 engine? Something about a dura-spark, and please forgive me I did a search, and probaly didnt do it properly ,I didnt come up with anything that I was looking for. I am sure its all there but I thought I could get it consolidated in just a few replies. Thank you for your time

You can indeed use the Duraspark, a nice upgrade I think. Plus if it gives you any trouble replacement parts are to be had at any parts store. I've done more than a few of these upgrades myself and have always been pleased with the results.
You'll want to get the distributor, the coil, the control box itself, the wiring that connects all three, and a bit of wire coming out of the other end of the box. This way everything is plug and play except for patching two wires into your current harness. And even one of those is optional. Sometimes the connectors between the box and distributor are old and easily damaged. You can cut them out and replace them with crimp-on connectors if need be. The coil is likely OK, but you might look into replacing it with a better aftermarket one. Many are available that are direct replacements. If on up the road you decide to go with an MSD ignition, they have a $6 adapter that allows the MSD box to plug directly into Duraspark distributors.
And here's a couple of links that are a lot more relevant to what you asked:Duraspark retrofit
Good stuff-look under "ignition"
