Has anyone destroyed their engines running the KB tune yet? How is everyones engines holding up under the instant boost the KB provides? Just curious before I add a 9psi kit to my 01. I've heard the 01's have more compression and there could be issues with them holding up under boost.

There's not too many of us up here with the KB (and I've only done a few thousand kms on mine), but we have a very capable tuner at Steeda.ca (Paul Meister is his name). Paul's been corresponding with Lideo for a few years now, and he's been trained by SCT with their latest software.

As I understand, the KB tune is pretty safe (ie: rich), so as long as you don't drive her way past redline on every shift, you motor should hold up just fine.

A blower won't kill your motor...a lean condition under WOT will, as will constantly shifting her past 6000.

Peace of mind is everything, so I'd reccomend that you find a capable/responsible tuner/installer in NC. Every car is different, so having a tuner near by will save you time and frustration trying to mail chips back and forth to resolve an issue.

A responsible tuner will tell you that safety is the priority, and your car should leave the shop with the A/F at totally safe levels, regardless of the hp#.

Bottom line...dyno the car with a capable SCT tuner...run her with the KB tune...if everything looks safe...you're good. If there's room for a little tweaking, the tuner should take care of it. :nice:

go see brent hughes at Dyno Tuned Performance in Chesapeak Va. He did mine and it has help up fine for the last 20K+ miles, I just added about 40 rwhp to it and we decided he couldn't tune it any safer, he said just don't beat the everloving crap out of it and it should be okay til you forge the engne.

With the KB tune your engine will last as long as you follow all their recommendations. If you want to push the envelope, then put a seal on it...your engine won't last long. By pushing the envelope I mean:

1. Over rev your engine
2. Run high boost levels without increasing the fuel octane or upgrading to forged internals

i have a 01 with a KB on it with there tune, and so far its running fine, altough i shifted into second once and the tires just went up in smoke and it bounced the rev limited before i could shift into third, and it just craped out, the exhaust sounded all weird and it ran really rough, so i turned it off and restarted and it ran fine, just an expample of what happens when u over rev.
