I got my Maximum Motorsports subframe connectors welded in today. I know this is a stupid question since I already bought the things and had them installed but what is it that they do exactly? Everyone says it is one of the most important mods. I haven't really noticed a difference now that they are in. I am primarily a drag racer. How will these help me? I know the gist that they connect your subframes and are supposed to help cut down on frame twist and body roll but I'm not sure how this will cut any time off my 1/4 mile.

They stiffen the chassis. Combine it with a strut tower brace for ultimate stiffness. Do not get a two point strut tower brace. Do not get a strut tower brace that screws up your alignment every time you remove it...

I think a lot of verts come with them stock. At least mine did... Are you sure there are none under there? Verts need them especially because they do not have the roof to tie the unibody together...

Not sure what you mean by side to side sloppiness, reducing body roll or reduced nose diving being corrected by SFCs - that sounds more like what better springs/shocks/struts/swaybars will do for you.
Propellerhead has the right answer here - that twisting motion absorbs alot of energy.

Mustangs use a uni-body design where the separate sub-frames are which your major suspension parts are attached to.They work exactly as they sound, tying the front and rear sub frames together to make a stronger platform. The stiffer the chassis is, the more effectively the rear suspension can do its job and put the power to the ground. This in turn will help your car to achieve a better weight transfer upon acceleration thereby giving you better launch times off the starting line and helping to lower your overall E.T.’s. And as propeller head says, you won't have as much wasted energy with a stiffer chassis.

Verts have shorty subframes that are BOLTED in. Full-length subframes that are welded in make a huge improvement in chassis stiffness. Every vert owner should upgrade to full lengths.

I have the bolt on POS's from the factory on my car. I had Kenny Brown subs on my GT and was very happy with them. I didn't put subs on my '91 and had a very large crack on the underside of the car. IMO getting subs put on not only helps you put the power to the ground, but they add much needed strength to the chasis. In other words...you made the right move in getting them!!

i hate to but in this conversation but why would a strut tower brace off a 94 gt not fit my 98 gt?

It more than likely wont even be a close fit. Ford relocated the strut towers for the modular cars. I test fitted my cousin's from his 94 Cobra and it was about 3 inches off (think it was too long, don't remember).

Sub-frames will also help keep your mustang from turning into a rattle trap. The constant twisting of the body in part creates all those squeaks and rattles. I could tell a huge difference, especially pulling out of driveways after mine were installed.
