Going from a stock GT, what does it take to run 10's in the quarter?

I'm just wondering, because this is my eventual goal and just wanna see how long I'm gonna have to work for it. Also, I don't really wanna run a turbo, I'd rather a KB 1.7 or 2.2 if that matters...

1)forged engine, head work, cams, intake
2) power adder
3) rollbar/cage
4) lighten it
5) suspension upgrades. doesnt matter if you have 1000 hp, it has to get to the road
6)stronger trans
7) slicks
All in all its going to be difficult and expensive. Aim for 12's on motor (get your suspension and rear built up), then add a power adder to get to the "10's".

Ok, I guess I'll just shoot for low 12's to high 11's :).
you can get into the 11's for a couple thousand with stock heads and motor. Get Lt's, full exhaust, plenum, TB, intake tube, gears, tires, programmer, and nitrous. subframe connectors a must too. suspention and lots of practice will help too.

If you are going to go 10's start to do prevenative work first, SCs, build your rear up with 31 spline or better, diff, gears, weld torque boxes, axle tubes, do suspention work and then move up. your stock tranny won't help you either.

dont forget the rear torque boxes. i cracked mine hard core. wild rides has s boxes and all that crap u need. i assume u would launch hard on sticky tires. deffinately a stronger tranny. roll cage. parachute... ok so thats overkill but how bad does a stang look with a daggum parachute? im thinking about replacing my wing for a couple of them...

Its really not that bad...take it to Tim at MPH have them weld your torque boxes and stuff, get some sub frames welded, have them put in cobra tank/pump, buy their forged SB, get some custom cams by them, buy an intercooled novi 2000 setup, buy X pipe, and CB, run 15PSI through it, have tim tune it (close or at 550RWHP), then buy a spec STG 3 clutch, 31 spline axles, 3.55-3.73 gears, an auborn 31 spline posi, and some 15 inch DOT slicks. Thats should get a mid 10 and the tranny should hold...someone broke one (3650) at a 10.30. If its a t45, just buy a viperspec T56 or a TKO 600. Thats about all you really need to get in the 10s.

GOOD LUCK !

Get a built motor with lower compression thats built for boost. Some SC cams and well-flowing heads, full exhaust, all necessary fuel upgrades, drag suspension, beefy rear-end and axles, slicks, and a roll cage just in case. BTW, you'll also need a fatass bank account

I like how you said not really that bad and then went on to list over $30 Grand in parts and labor!!! :rlaugh:  It can be done on a street GT, I hope to have mine running by Friday and a cage in by next week to try for the 10's. But I dropped some cash, and I get everything at cost!
