MSP's Dual's Rev/Idle

I think this one sounds much better, and i would say mine sounds about the same at idle, but yours is a little better at revs, maybe i'll try to get another sound file from a different side. Where was your mic positioned for both of these recordings?

For the qicksprint it was in the backseat of the car.. For the idle, it was sitting on another car in my driveway, right next to the Mustang..

I really appreciate it Echo7... You da Man!! We will get yours figured out dont worry!!

MSP, I've had the K&N filter for 2 months now and i'm thinking of doing the 'Airfilter box mod'. I just want to know a few things from your experience.
1. Did you have to do any tuning to the chip?
2. Did the check engine light ever come on?
3. I've noticed somewhat of a better 'growl' under the hood after installing the K&N drop in filter. How is the sound under the hood like now that you've done the mod? Is it like just like the sound of a CAI?

I'd also like to give a big thanks to MSP, echo7 and others for being couragous in the modding of their cars and keeping us informed with the information/results that they have gathered. :nice:

Wow, iv'e never really thought of it that way, but we have acomplished alot :D 10 pages, 200+ posts, and 3000+ views, shew. :hail2:

As for my exhuast, I'm seriously thinking about upgrading the mufflers, because I want somthing that will talk without having to floor it. :D What mufflers are you using again, MSP, i'm wondering what the results would be if I got the same exact ones. Since our X-Pipe's are placed the same, I think it would be a matter of of the brand (mine Bassani, yours Maganflows) Hey, why don;t you sell yours to me and buy some meatier ones :rlaugh:

As for sound, I will try your technique MSP, with the mic on the side, and I'll try to get an inside recording aswell (even though my mufflers may not be loud enough to pick up from inside). I did mine with the mic on the ground, maybe 3ft from the muffler, and when I reved it, it would distort, and when I turned the pic up down to compinstate, the idle was barely noticable.

All in all, i am very VERY pleased with my performance and sound gains, and also the dual exhuast look :D It was the best $200 i spent :nice:

Hey guys!! Glad you guys liked it! Again, all made possible by my man Echo7's hard-disk space.. LOL!!

Thanks man!! I know you own a V8, so it really means alot coming from you! :D

I am using the FlowMaster 2 Chamber mufflers! I am thinking of putting on the single chamber.. I am not sure though, because I like the sound now, as well as the low-end torque.. If I go single chamber, I might lose alittle low-end.. I am not sure yet... I think in your case there may be a problem possibly with the Bassani X-PIPE.. I think yours may have been geard directly for V8's, as opposed to the Magnaflow being more of an all-purpose.. I'm not sure though.. But for sure I say get some FlowMasters installed.. The only problem is, the sound is made at the point of the X-PIPE.. By the time the Muffler gets it, the sound is pretty much what its going to be.. With the Bassani, to me it sounds as if it is allowing too much flow, and is therefor allowing the high raspy sound to take over... I believe with the Magnaflow, it holds onto the exhaust slightly longer.. Meaning, it gives time for heatup.. I dont think your Bassani is allowing this.. I am not sure though really.. I am still thinking about it.. Like the GT Mufflers, these may not be the problem.. Like I said, the sound of the engine is pretty much set in stone once its released from the XPIPE!

Answeres to your questions

1. No, no chip tuning needed at all..

2. I have never seen a check engine light in my car.. Where is it located? Is it in the trunk? LOL!!

3. Yes, its sounds the same as the Stock Intake box without the MOD.. Now it could be making a sound outside of the car, when I am chasing around GT's, but I cant hear it in the cockpit.. :D

I still have a big fight with MisterCMK coming up.. Stay tuned.. It promises to be an exciting bout.. I am not sure if I can win, but I have alot of confidence.. It could be a first round Knockout though.. But dont worry, I will help MisterCMK back to his corner! LOL!!

Check back a few pages for the fight stats.. The fight is in relation to the Dyno results!

that sounds great. what is your setup....i got to have it!

Hello!! Welcome to the forum.. My setup is----------->

1. True Dual Exhaust from both headers.. Meaning each header has its own run, back to its own muffler..

2. Magnaflow X-PIPE---Installed at the bends right after the CATS..

3. FlowMaster (2) Chamber Mufflers

4. K&N AirFilter inside of a Stock Intake box, modded with (7) 2.5inch holes, cut with a 2.5in Circular saw for a 3/8in drill.. You can get them from HomeDepot for $7.99.

Thats it so far.. My wife has just allowed me to purchase some 18x9in Bullit wheels for the fronts, and 18x10in for the back.. Deep dish with a 3 inch lip for the rear.. I will get these painted to match my car, which is the Windviel Blue like Echo7's car.. I decided I like Bullits more than the 2006 Cobra Wheels..

I think I have figured it out.. My theory above is sustained by the price difference you chose from.. Remeber on the ebay posting you listed, the Magnaflow XPIPE was for I think $85 bucks, and the Bassani was for $17 or $24 bucks.. I believe the Bassani you purchased was not designed correctly in regards to an XPIPE's inside design characteristics, and is why they were so cheap.. Remember we gambled on that one.. So what you must do is order a Magnaflow XPIPE and have the same guy at the shop swap it out...

I never posted this up here, but put it up a while back in March on TMS. Just throwing it up for comparison. This was a few days and a few hundred miles after I had my exhaust work done. Flowmaster 40s and "true dual" exhaust. Pipes never cross. Its mellowed out alot, and gotten deeper since. Ill get a newer clip if anyone wants it. Doesnt pop anymore either, it was a wet rainy day. Dont hold those against me.

All you have to do Zodiac is get the Magnaflow XPIPE installed and your gold!! :nice:

I dunno MSP, i'm having huge gains in my SOTP dyno :D, I wish I could exchange the X-Pipe for the sheer act of experiment, so that others will know, but as a college kid, i'm short on time and money. I would also like to exchange mufflers to see if the X-Pipe is the culprit. But as of right now, i love the sound of my exhuast, and the power is great :D I'm thinking high 5 second 0-60 if i were to get a retune and CAI

Here is another sound clip, just a 5 second idle as i was moving my mic around to get a good spot, and this is right in front of the muffler pipe (so basicly its a one side recording) My mic has this enormous hum, like interference, have to try a new mic.

That sounds good echo7. Do me a favor.. Take a ride with the mic in the backseat, and the laptop on the passenger side.. Start from a stop, like on a freeway on-ramp, this way you can hit record, then take off to the next exit.. Let us hear it while the engine is pulling the car down the highway.. Just be carefull. Look out for cops first, and be safe..

Should i do it with the windows down like yours? I'm wondering if your even going to be able to hear it with the windows down, lol. Think all you'll hear is the engine :) and the Ex-Lax smooth auto shifts (that are in dire need of stiffness)

Also, me and fazm83 are working out a deal to borrow his gtech, since he has a GT single exhuast, only difference would be his is manual. Why do i have to be the only one with an automatic? :( (and to think ford charged me $1000 for it too :bs: ) Anyways, this would show where i stand against him, then it would be very beneficial if you got it MSP before you did any more modding, because even if the gtech isnt accurate, it will still show difference between our cars, and who's mods are the best :D

Of course!! Gotta keep the windows down.. I keep mine down in the rain.. LOL!! I keep a small towel on the passenger side floor.. I'm a retard!! LOL!!
