Anyone know how to shut it off without buckling the belt?

Not sure if you can...Go to a junk yard and cut the male end off...then you can just have it in there all the time if you want.

Take a used seat beat buckle an place it in your seatbelt plug so as to make the computer think you are buckled.

I read a similar request in a diffrent post or even forum. i remmber copying it to notepad (i knew i will need this), so here is the answer to your question,

you can disable the chime.....read your manual. it's easy.......

turn you key on (don't start the car)
wait for the seatbelt light to shut off (about 1 minute).
as soon as it shuts...buckle and unbuckle your belt 9 times, end with it UNBUCKLED.

you will see the AIRBAG light flash...then buckle and unbuckle one more time.

DONE.

then start the car....shut if off.....repeat for the passenger seat.

DONE.

This begs the question, and forgive me for sounding rude, but what kind of idiot doesn't wear a seat belt? Honestly, I just don't understand why you would risk your life like that. Have you seen what happens to people who don't wear seatbelts when they get in accidents?

Now if you wanted to disable it because you don't want it sounding at other times, I understand.

Sorry for the rant, but I have known people that have been killed because they didn't wear their seatbelts, as I'm sure many people do, so it hits a nerve with me when people are careless and don't wear them.

personally I wear my seatbelt but from what i understand the belt chime is annoying (i read it in a diffrent forum. like i said still waiting for my 05) I would want to disable it when i get my ride because I don't usaully wear my seat belt when i get in the car, i usally don't wear it when im reverse etc... I usually wear it within a minute of getting in the car so i thats why i would want it disabled, so it doens't mean i don't wear my seat belt. Just wanted to share my thoughts

That makes sense enough. I don't really notice it. I could probably disable mine since I never forget to wear it. It's like second nature. I'm used to a bit of a startup sequence with my cars. With my Chevelle, it's harness, kill switches, priming the fuel pump and checking the gauges, with my El Camino, it was seatbelt and fan switches, and with my 05 it's deactivating TCS and putting on my seatbelt.

The chime is just your car telling you that it loves you and wants you to be safe.

If you are putting in harnesses and race seats you should be able to figure out how to disable the chime. I can think of 2 ways (not listed above)
