A friend and I are going to be traveling to the Chicago, IL area in the near future. We're going to be visiting the six flags, the sears tower, a couple museums and what not, and want to see lake Michigan. We plan 2 days for sight-seeing and 1 day for six flags.

We're having problems find a good, inexpensive hotel that's near the places we want to visit. I suppose we'd want to be as close to downtown Chicago as possible, correct? We plan to use public transportation (buses, etc) to get around to the various places.

Can anyone refer/recommend a decent hotel in the Chicago area for $50-100? We'd actually like to keep it as far below $100 a night as possible, but also want a decent hotel w/ free parking and in a decent area where we don't have to drive half an hour to get to a bus station or whatever.

Any other advice on a Chicago trip would be appreciated.

When I stayed in Chicago I stayed at a redroof inn, it was in downtown chicago I believe and it was really nice. That was about 4 years ago or so but if I go back, I'll probably try to find that hotel again.

Those attractions are a little far from each other. In Itasca there is a Holiday Inn its like a 1/4 mile to the train and a 15 minute ride to Chicago, but to get a to Great America your gonna hve to take a cab or something.......Good Luck and Have fun!

Stay away from the field musuem as its quite boring. I'd go to the aquarium or Art musuem. You'll have much better luck using taxi's rather than buses. for a hotel less than a $100 a nite is almost non existent. Good luck and hope you have a good time. Try to go while the Taste of Chicago is still going thats a lot of fun.
