Coolant Tank problems

Hey guys I have noticed my temp rising from the "M" all the way to a little pass the "A" on NORMAL. Then yesterday I noticed all my antifreeze draining out. I took it to a mechanic and he said that he could not get the system to hold pressure and that the cap or where the cap screws to was tighening so far then popping like it had some bad threads. Both the cap and the tank are just plastic. I went ahead and had him order a new coolant tank from FORD so it will be OEM and fit right. Will this fix my problem? Also will it make my temp go down? My car has a high performance radiator, but no after-cooler. If I get an aftercooler will it help my engine stay cooler or is it just for better compression of the air for the supercharger? And also I have a Vortec SQ trim and when standing in front of the car when it is running at 6K rpm I can not hear the supercharger at all? does anyone else have a SQ trim that is the same way? Sorry for all of the questions... Thanks for any help you guys can offer..

An aftercooler is just to cool the superchargers air into the engine...has nothing to do with engine temperature or it's coolant...If the coolant is draining out of your degas bottle, where is it going? You don't have any blue or white smoke out the back do you?

Nope no smoke at all out the back, it just seems to all leak out on the ground. I was driving around yesterday for about 10+ miles and engine temp stayed around the "M". Pulled up to the garage, looked underneath and it wasnt leaking anything at all. Pulled the car into the garage and left it over night. Came back in the morning and it was all over the ground and the coolant tank was empty again :( .

Any ideas to why it wouldnt leak while I was driving but after the car was turned off and sitting for a while it all decides to drain out?

I have never had a car do this before...

Sittting, the car tends to heat up a bit and this is pushing you over the edge, If the system is marginal. Try and see if your fan is running when you stop (on high setting) Fill the system through the crossover tube and burp it then add to the tank. Check to make sure it is completely full.

Seems like most of the problems with cooling seem to be from a system with air in it

Good luck

Have you tried replaced the cap on the overflow tank. Mine was bad, causing the car to overheat and allowed hot, pressuirzed coolant to come out the cap. Then one day when I pulled the cap off "BBOOIIIINNNGGGG"! The caps springs came flying out at me and the baffle was still laying on top of the tank. lol Got a new one and hadn't had it over heat that high again.
