I just got my Zex dry kit delivered by the wonderful brown truck today. I have searched and had a couple posts about this already but just want to clarify a few things.

If I were to spray a 75-100 shot the stock fuel system is up to the task if I install colder plugs and gap them accordingly and also retard the timing to around 8*?

I have also read a few threads saying a new fuel pump is a good safety precaution but I read the 255 is too big and the 190 is a better choice. What is the final consensus on the subject and is a fuel pump needed when only spraying a 75-100 shot?

Also is an AFPR needed? And what exactly does it do?

Sorry about so many questions I am just being meticulous in order to not grenade my motor because I'm in college and don't have all sorts of money to be repairing a blown motor. Thanks for the help.

i would use an afpr as the zex kit uses the reg to add more fuel and i belive it says to use a 1:1 reg anyway. i have heard the f/p argument a few times and have the opinion that a 255 is overkill as the stock lines are not sized properly to support this pump and the 190 is a better match. look at frpp's 190 pump, it comes with bigger outlet lines as well as the pump.

255 high pressure pump, 1 step colder plugs gapped @ .035", fresh fuel filter and 8-10* initial timing to be safe. Use 93 gas. Better to be safe than sorry and try and run that extra degree or 2 of timing and pop a gasket. I blew a head gasket on n2o a while ago. It isn't cool :)

So I'll get the fuel pump but do you think I can get away with not getting one right away on the 75 shot if I gap the colder plugs, fresh fuel filter, and retard the timing?

Also where did everyone put everything I'm having a hard time figuring out where to mount the NMU. Any suggestions?
