Block Search--302

I think the only four bolt 302's Fors ever made were the Boss blocks(rare and expensive). There is an aftermarket company called Dart that makes a super strong 302 block with 4-bolt mains that can be bored out to .185 over as opposed to the .030 of a stock block. It runs over $2,000 for an unfinished block though. FRPP has some in between options.

I used a 1970 year Mexican block. It has a Mexican stamp in the lifter valley. These blocks are very strong. It is built like the 289 HI_PO block with the large main caps and stronger webing but also has more iron content. Im running 525hp with a paxton supercharger and had no problems. There are guys racing with this block and had lot of luck without spending 2300 dollars. There was a post in here somewhere about a racer who blown one apart but he was running a 250HP shot of nitrous with a total of about 850 hp and thats pretty darn good for a 2 bolt main, dont forget to use a stud girdle and ARP stud kit for a girdle.

Dart Machinery makes two 4-bolt main blocks. The Iron Eagle has four bolts on all mains. The Sportsman has 2-bolt mains at 1 & 5, and 4-bolt mains at 2-4. Max over-bore is 4.185".
World also makes aftermarket Ford 4-bolt main blocks. Max ocerbore is 4.2"
The Ford Racing R302 block is like the Dart Sportsman block, but has a smaller max. over-bore (4.125, I think - not positive).
You can occasionally find a Ford Racing A-4 block (predecessor to the R302 block). The A-4 is like the R302, but is non-siamesed. All of the other 4-bolt main blocks above are siamesed.

Hi All Its Now Time To Start My Engine Buyild . Firt Item Ill Be Needing Is A Four Bolt 302 Block. If You Know Of Any Can U Please List A Name Of Company Or A Url Please . Thanks In Advance !!
Not sure how familiar you are with Fords, but you don't need a 4 bolt main on a Ford to make good power with it.

Are you sure you really need 4 bolt mains?
How much power are you aiming for?
What power adders, what max rpm?

I Am Not A Ford Man By Any Means Have Had Chevy All My Life Till Now. Thus All The Questions I Know The Chevy Info Lol Four Bolyts Are A Dime A Dozen Hehe. Anyway I Looking For 550 To 600 Hp Stroke Of 331 Or 347 . All Parts Will Be Forged .the Power Will Come From A Paxton Enclosed Supercharger . It Will Be Boosted As High As Pump Gas Allows . The Car Will Not Be Raced Just A Fun Car . Reliability Is My Main Concern As The Car Will Be Driven On Long Trips Across Country .all I Ever See Here On Frums Is That 450 Hp Is Max With A Girdled Block--- 2 Bolt ?

Yeah your gonna want to go 4 bolt, check out my garage i split a 2 bolt main block a 570rwhp and 560 tourque, on a dyno thats how i know. i got the DART, 300 bucks machineing and it was done. I was told that the R-302 block is cheaper but the amount of machineing is much greater, and all around the dart was my best option, look @ my combo. Good luck dont skimp in the begining it will only come back to haunt you, take my word for it.

What Is Your Opinion On The Stroke Keep The Angles Minimal At 331 Or Go For The 347?that Is My Worry If The Extra Wall Loads And Rod Angles Will Come Back To Haunt Me Lol. And Thx All For Advice --fimnally Gettin Somewhere8^)

Everyone i asked said stick with the 331 with high boost. But since then i have talked to alot of guys with 347's and no probs even one with 28lbs of boost! I just said well 16 more cubes wont be noticed when you #'s are up there, and i went concervitive. (that was the first time and only time that happend)
