Intake manifold spacer?

the thicker the spacer, the higher up in the rpm band it will move power.

Perhaps my physics is a bit rusty, but doesn't a thicker spacer (which creates slightly longer runners) equal more power down low and shorter runners (like the box type intakes) equal more power in the higer RPM band?

:stupid:

I didn't seem to get any power out of mine. I used it on the stock 302 with 1.7RR, Cobra Intake, and a chip.

Never did dyno it though, so hp/$ could be reasonable?

I'm looking at getting a spacer for the purposes of having enough room between the mainfold and my valve covers, so any added power is purely a bonus. Do the kits include everything that is needed?

Double check when you order, but it should come with gaskets and bolts.

ive been pretty dislexic (sp?) this week so you may be right. i know for a fact that it will move the powerband. i bought mine for the sole purpose of clearing tall valve covers. it came with bolts and gaskets. two of the bolts were too short so i had to go to the local hardware store for a couple of longer ones

Yeah lowers the powerband a tad. They're not exenisive so a couple of extra horses makes it good hp/$ I also need one for Intake to valve cover clearance.

You and Trefty both mention needing extra clearance with the manifold. I am confused as to why you have a clearance problem in the first place. I assume hood clearance will not be an issue, if you are currently not clear of the valve cover. What are your combos?

Well I put the sn95 cobra upper on my car for hood clearance issues(it's shorter) but then it's so low that a little valve looking thing (don't know the name) on the bottom of it puts a hole in my valve cover over time as it wears on it. Needed the extra 1/2", but not the 3" the 86-93cobra/gt-40 gives.

As for the other guy, I'm going to guess he just has tall valve covers. Don't the 351's have much taller valve covers?

I have the 351w in mine and it uses the same valve covers as the 302. He could be using taller covers for rocker clearance?

I did not realize there was a 3" height difference between the sn95 and the 93 Cobra manifold. Is the difference just in the upper intake?

I have a 1" spacer on my gt-40. my peak power on the dyno came at 5300 rpms. I was wondering if i should remove the spacer now that i have a supercharger on. Maybe try to move the peak power up in the rpm range a little to make better use of the boost. Any opinions on weather it will help.

This happened to be, but NONE of the hardware stores locally or home depot or anyone had the bolts, i belive they needed to be 7 inches long and they only went up to 6, so i went to boltdepot.com to get the bolts, so if you run into any problem with bolt sizes go there
