drained battery

After being in my garage for 3 different 10 day periods. my battery was completely drained.. so far, I've already gone through 2 batteries and am currently on my third one, since purchasing my 05GT. on 2/13/05 took the car back to my dealer, and all they did was replace the battery, their service dept. could not determine nor diagnose the cause, or should I say, thats what they claimed.. so after taking the car back the second time, the dealer recommended that either I use a trickle charger, or have them install a battery disconnect switch, if the car is not to be used for more than a week which I feel is absolutely ridiculous...especially for being a 25k+ new car. if anybody has any suggestions, ideas, recommendations who has also experienced similar problems..I'd be extremely greatful for any advice and input...would it also be possible that the shaker 500 may be the cause of my batteries to drain ??? I've heard that some shaker 500's that were installed prior to April were defective and that Ford was well aware of this issue and has since taken steps to correct any bugs that were causing battery discharge problems...if anyone has any info. about this.. please let me know...thanks much, torch red 05 mustang GT :D

First of all...lets get something straight, right here and now..for starters I'am a new member to these forums, and in the second place.. I didn't place 6 million threads on the same topic as you claimed...I posted only 2 of them, and the only reason why, was I wasn't sure if I had posted my concerns in the proper thread or not...so if you have a problem or are offended, then file a proper complaint and have an administrator take this up with me..and BTW..I'm also new to computers and am still in the learning process, just as you once were at one time, so perhaps you should take the time and consider these factors, before you go jumping down somebody's throat for only making an honest mistake, and for your info. was never intentional, nor offensive to begin with.... have a nice day

If you have not left the forum, I would like to apologize for the lack of information and folks not assessing your urgency in obtaining a resolution. I am not adept at wiring; however, I had a 93 Ford Explorer with a undiagnosed voltage drain, I know it can be frustrating on a new car.

In the interim, I would recommend disconnecting the battery for periods where you expect to be away for more than 5 days. I will look around and see if I can come up with anything.

If it was a drain from the Stereo, they could diagnose it. I would also recommend calling another dealership and asking them if you can take your vehicle to them.

Have you had any aftermarket modifications done/or put on the car. Have you had any TSB fixed?

I will get back to you with any information that I track down.

Good Luck and I am sorry to hear about the disappointment and frustration you are encountering.

WOAH.....hold on here. Let me get this straight. You're new to computers. You're new to this sight. Someone points out to you that you've posted the same problem twice, and you jump down our throats??????? :bang:

In all honesty, if you want help from someone here, don't come in here, out of the shoot chastising them. Be cordial. Appologize for posting the same problem in two different areas. Then, thank whoever is willing to help you. :)

red05bullitgt, some people just don't want to help,
so what if he posted it twice it happens some times, instead of complaining about it and making the forum full of complaints try to help the guy otherwise keep your useless comments to your self,

NO PAL...YOU HOLD ON HERE, I was accused of posting the same problem 6 million times, not just twice..and in the second place, I was referring to the person who was chastising me, and in the third place.. I wasn't jumping down your throat about anything..in fact..I don't even know who you are..but I will say this...I will not put up nor tolerate anybody that tries to put me on the defensive, by making sarcastic remarks, that I feel are offensive...so I'm going to tell you the same thing I told the previous member who provoked me...IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ME...FILE A PROPER COMPLAINT AND HAVE A MODERATOR OR A SENIOR MEMBER, TAKE THIS UP WITH ME PERSONALLY, and in all honesty...know all the facts, before you stick your nose where it doesn't belong, you talk about being cordial ??? well you obviously need to practice what you preach, before you accuse anybody of being inconsiderate, and finally..I don't take orders from you, and if anybody owes an apology, its you and your buddy for being way out of line.. :bang:

DUDE, YOU NEED TO CHILL OUT!!!!! i just pointed this out as a suggestion. the mods will tell you the same thing. we do not need multiple threads on the same topic. i never jumped down your throat. i said we dont need 6 million threads on the same topic. it is the same as someone posting they put on a supercharger. the mods close the thread and tell them to post in an open thread, instead of a new one. i would appologize for getting my message across wrong, but i will not now, because you seem too jumpy, like you have been beaten up by a bully your whole life. i made a suggestion, and you (or maybe me as i was posting) took it as something totally different than the intended comment. the search feature is your friend. i dont appreciate a new member coming here and getting an attitude with members who have obviously been here longer, and have made more positive posts than yourself. most of us are here to learn something, and sometimes help out other people if we can. if you have something positive to add to this site, then feel free to post. if not, then you are a troll and need to be banned. the decision is yours. if you decide to stay, then welcome and dont get pissed when someone offers a suggestion. or when someone else offers theirs, dont jump down their throat either. if you cant handle criticism, without getting defensive, you need help.

jenn, you are absolutly right, i should have offered a helpful suggestion directly related to this thread, but hopefully, there is a lesson learned for many of us here. be patient, search, and be courteous to your fellow members. i just jumped the gun, because i have seen multiple posts in a few different threads. it was just bad timing for this guy, and it was a long day, and i did not offer my advice in the best way. i will try to be more helpful in the future.

After reading your latest post, you now have my apology, and yes..I did take what you said in the wrong way, otherwise this misunderstanding would have never take place to begin with, and as far as I'm concerned...I was adding something positive to this post when I tried reaching out for someone to help, and when I didn't get reply back.. I wasn't sure if I had sent it out properly, which was the only reason why I re-posted it. alright ? in fact..I didn't even know what a thread was and in a way..I'm still not sure, so how was I supposed to have known that I ever did anything wrong ?? the reason why I got pissed and defensive was because you made it seem as though, you took my lack of knowledge as some sort of deliberate act or something, and it wasn't...it was an honest mistake, and I'm also here to learn just as much as anybody else, in fact..I'm the kind of person who will go out of my way to help somebody out, if I can..and in the event that I can't..then I'll do my very best to refer them to somebody who can..as I tried to say before..I'm new to these chat forums and need all the support and patience possible, when it comes to understanding terminology and proceedure, and yes I can take criticism, when it happens to be constructive criticism and not negative, and at the time..it seemed like your criticism came accross as being very negative, and I'm sorry but yes..thats how I took it..otherwise this misunderstanding would have never took place at all. so I hope that everything I've just mentioned here, will finally clear and put this entire misunderstanding to rest once and for all... However if it does not, and you all prefer that I cancel my membership.. then I will do so, if that is what you wish..and BTW..what is a troll ?? I've never heard of that term before..

Red...

It's cool. Everyone makes mistakes. The main issue with multiple posting is database space loss and trying to keep the information in the threads (a bunch of posted replies categorized by subject) in a user friendly and easily accessible fashion.

Yes, search is your friend. But, in all fairness, bigcat, not all people know where to locate it and how to use it. Many users can be intimidated when they come on a board.

Patience, understanding and the ability to seek to understand, not to be understood is a good model approach.

So, now that we are all in a love fest again. Red - WELCOME. Let us know what the other dealer says and if they are unable to resolve the issue or provide an adequate diagnosis let us know. We will do out best to help.

Jennifer

Battery shut off knobs are easy to install and can be bought at Wal-Mart for around $3.00 . I have one on my project car. I know that this isn't a fix to your problem but it could prevent drainage on your new battery until you figure out the source of the draining.
