Hey guys, I had my smog done last week on my 95 5.0. Only thing I have done that is relevent to smog is MSD which I imagine helps. My smog tube wasn't attatched to the H pipe (oops) but nothing was said. Maybe that has something to do with how well it passed smog? 162k on the motor and it came this much under maximum emissions? Heh whatever... Has anyone else done smog since the new style dyno smoggings started? Let me know if you can't read any of the numbers and I can post them...

I love how it says "Congradulations! Your vehicle passed the enhanced Smog Check inspection, which helps California reach its daily goal of removing an extra 100 tons of smog-forming emissions from the air. Thank you for keeping your vehicle well maintained. "

Man, that's awesome. I am getting ready to go through NJ emissions and they are right up there with CA in terms of strictness. Hoping I will have similar luck. My smog pump is hooked up to my cats. Not sure that this would have helped you. My understanding is that the pump forces air into the cats to essentially help them burn excess crap from the emissions. According to everything I have read both in books and in forums, leaving this tube disconnected simply reduces the life of the cats by increasing the probability of the cores failing overtime. I think the pump extends their lifetime somehow, but good news in your case anyway.

Yeah that makes sense. I only had my cats on for two days for smogging and took em off lol so I'm not really worried about their lifespan, but I'm just wondering how my car got such low emissions numbers without even having the tube hooked up.
