i know theres a difference but i was wondering what it is. the brackets,or where it bolts up to the headers? the x-pipe is for a 96-98 cobra and i was wondering if it would work on a 96 gt. thanks

nevermind, guys at texas mustang,and pacifica said the cobra mid pipes will fit a gt just cant put a gt pipe on a cobra. something to do with the crossmember on the cobras. maybe this will help some of you too

ok well i went to put the x-pipe on and it wouldnt fit because the o2's were slanted upward toward the cross member,however the h-pipe did fit o2's still where the cross member is but did fit. the other problem is i have the slp cat back and sounds like crap with the h-pipe (o/r) i really dont think ive heard any thing worse. i think ill go with a catted x or maybe a pro chamber, anythings got to be better than this.

DEFINITELY go with a catted mid-pipe. i'd say slp catted x, (which I have, great fitment and top quality) but then it may still be a little too raspy for you. if it is, you can always switch to the LM2 resonators. whatever you do, prochamber, slp, whatever mid-pipe you get, get it with cats. ive heard a lot of guys complain that the lm c/b with o/r midpipe sounds like crap. i have the slp catted x w/lm1 c/b and its borderline too raspy for me. i mean its loud as hell the way i wanted it, but i am considering swapping to the lm2's.

what would sound deeper the pro chamber or the catted x, i need something fast. thanks for the info
well, when it comes to mid-pipes:

x=louder, raspier nascar sound
h=deep, rumble, muscle car sound

now the prochamber, is kinda different. it enters the chamber like an x, but exits like an h. im gonna go ahead and say the prochamber will give you a deeper sound than the x-pipe. but, ive never heard a pro-chamber + loudmouth combo, so i dont know how its gonna sound. the cool thing about both these brands is that you can switch between cats and no cats, although it does cost $$.

here's a link with a diagram of how the pro-chamber looks inside: pro-chamber

whatever you decide, i hope it works out for you. if you want to hear what the loudmouth and catted-x sound like, i've got 3 vid links in my sig. it will give you somewhat of an idea. good luck

im guessing you're thanking me for the clips :shrug: yeah, thats with two cats (total, 1 on each pipe) i'll show you a pic. thanks for the compliment, i like the sound too. LOUD! just like i wanted it. but im still thinking about swapping to the lm2 resonators.

i'd like to hear the pro-chamber w/ lm too. anyway, heres a pic of my set-up once i finished. if you go with the slp x, let me know. ill give you some install advice.

mustangtuning.com. here you go.
mustangtuning.com slp page
you also get free shipping and a 5% stangnet discount. so it would come out to $380 shipped to your door. the next cheapest place i've found is rpmoutlet.com same price, free shipping, but no discount. they had a 10% discount on all stainless steel exhaust products going on for a while, but not any more i guess. mustangtuning is a very good company to deal with.

ok, this is what the guys at pacifaca and texas mustang told me. you can run a h and x from a cobra on a gt but not from a gt to a cobra. i had both laying around from my 97 cobra and thought i would give it a shot. the x there was no way because the way the o2s are angled and they sat right where the cross member was, the h bolted on because the o2s are straight out the side but still sat under the cross member. i wasnt planning on running it forever, i just wanted to hear it before i bought one for the car. im glad i did because loud mouth 1s and an o/r h sounded terrable imo. im now planning on a catted pc.
