I need new tires. any suggestions for a weekend driver in SoCal, don't race much except an occasional stoplight to stoplight.
Goodyear DS-G3's. Great traction, better wear than stock F1's, better traction both wet and dry too. Those will be my replacement tires once my original Goodyear's wear out.

Street tires are no good for a Cobra, buy some Drag Radials or better yet buy some E/T streets for the 17x9 inch wheels. The reason I say that, is because I have Nittos and I can still light them up no problem, and my friends 03 Cobra has BFG Drag Radials, and he kills those tires and they are stickier than Nittos. The only mods he has is a 2.93 pulley, K&N conical, cat-back,4.10 in a solid axle with 31 splines, eaton, welded tubes, and upper and lower controls arms. His car is in the high 11's and I rode in that car, they still light up like nothing. Another friend of mine has E/T streets on an 03 GT and they hook real hard.

Yeah, your right about the E/T street in the rain, I didn't really think of that, sometimes everybody gets caught in the rain without warning. KD's are a great tire, I have KDW's on my 97 and they are great even though the car is less powerful. My Nitto's are in the rain, actually. If they are bald though, they are just like an E/T street, it is downright scray, they broke loose effortlessly in 4th at like 1800 RPM. :bang:

Another vote of the DS-G3's. I put them on my wife's 96 about 5,000 miles ago and they're fantastic tires. Great dry traction and excellent wet traction. Check out the reviews on www.tirerack.com and people just rave about them. They're good enough that she's getting a set of 17x10.5's with 315/35r17's for her birthday.

I run Nitto's due to the price and being really hard on tires. The price can't be beat.

The stock F1's don't last long and $230 a tire is crazy.

Opinions will always vary, depends on the state you live in. We need good rain tires here.
I look for tread wear, rain use first. If I need to hook up, I run drag radials.

Like to try the DS-G3's some day, we will see.
I like the look of Nittos better IMOP.

If you are a good driver NEVER CHANGE the brand of your tire. The best tires ever for the cobra are the goodyears they come with, but I must admit I never have used any other type of goodyears.
On the other hand I have tried the rest. On my older cobra I used those BFgoodrichs and they would only last 10,000 miles befor they would harden and crack TRUST ME, those KDWs were terrible tires.
Dont ever buy nittos, also here in the desert they crack, they are just a little cheaper than the BFG. My nittos lasted about 9000 miles and I never burned them out thats because they have no TRACTION whatsoever. I have used Michelins? and they are good tires, much better than the pirellis, very expensive $355 a tire. but none of these tires are perfect for the dry heat.

So far I am on my second set of Goodyears, I hate to say it but I did not think they would be quality, but its now the only tire I will buy.
Just my opinion

Dude you need to read my other post... "say it over nad over again"

Not everybody is trying to run 12.0 at the track. The GS-D3 is a great all around street tire. Try running drag radials on a 350+ hp car in the rain. Not a good thing.

I stand corrected sorry I didnt finish all of the posts and it just set in that he doesnt race. The tires UM stated would work very well. And yes I run the stockers due to the rain issue etc. :bang:
Forgive Im still venting from the other
