ok, like many of you i've been given the runaround on when my car will arrive, i ordered in feb. the dealer has given up on giving me an approximate arrival and now is telling me that the reason is because ford is having trouble sourcing manual trannys. i recieved the voc today and my salesman says he doesn't even know what a "dora" is. question is, have you guys heard anything about the transmission problems, or is this guy bending me over further? from connecticut by the way

I have a 2006 5 Speed w/ pony package. I ordered it on the 25th of September, order was confirmed on the 27th or so, had the DORA emailed to me and it was scheduled to be built on the 3rd. The tranny seems to be in the car, right where it should be... my delivery was supposed to be W/O 21st, but I got it 1 week early - last Friday.

Any dealer that tells you there are still backups, manufacturing hold ups or anything else is blowing smoke. They problably don't have the allotment and are stringing you along.

Supply of the GT manual trannies are not covering demand, that is true. Also your dealer may not have the allocation. Who is your dealer and where are they out of?

You need a better dealer. I ordered my 2006 GT 5-speed in July, got tired of the runaround in September. I switched to a different dealer with a much better Mustang allocation. I ordered from him on Sept 22nd. It is built and has a dealer ETA of 11/04.

alright, i started looking at dealer inventories across the east coast and found several cars just like the one i ordered in the florida/georgia area. long story short, i flew down thursday, drove back today, new green gt in the drive way and i got it for roughly the same price. thanks for the help guys, oh and what do you guys think of painting the top half of the car black?

V6s don't get the same manual tranny as the GTs though.

Im glad you got your GT. How did you like the ride back home?

I have seen Yellow, Torch Red, Redfire with the top half in black. They look great! The concept is a good one. But, to be honest Im not sure about the legend Lime:shrug:But, remember one thing, it is YOUR CAR! Do what makes YOU HAPPY!

I would suggest getting a good high res digital phot of your car, post it on here in one of the talk forums and ask someone to photshop it for you. Maybe even a few different angles. Then take a good look at it. If you like it... go after it.

I persoanlly like the look of solid one color cars with no stripes or excessive body cladding. Just smooth lines. That they way I will keep my car, but as above... make you car the way you want it.
