Wheel Spacers and Pulleys?

I've got a set or baer wheel spacers and bbk underdrive pulleys for a 02 GT, i was wondering how much either one of these costs to install and if i'll need a new fan belt because of the pulleys. i dropped my car off at the mechanics and want to know about how much he should charge me. thanks guys

If you pay for wheel spacers to be installed you are a fool!! All you do is take off the wheel, place them where the wheel was and then put the wheel back on. How big of a spacer did you get and does it still have room for 6 threads on the stud left?
 
i'm not sure what size they are, i bought them a few years ago and forget. they're the ones from baer. i wanna say that they're like 3/4" but :shrug: someone told me that you need to take apart the differential to pull the axles out to get the longer studs in. were they full of :bs: ?
 
With spacers you may have to remove or adjust studs. Nothing wrong with paying to have it done. However there is something wrong with calling people fools, especially IN TECH :notnice:

I have to agree. Not everyone feels comfortable installing their own parts no matter how basic it may seem. If you do decide to install the spacers yourself, make sure you clean out any corrosion that may be on the hub and behind the mag before install.

Coming from a guy that recommended resetting a stock ECU and removing an air snorkel on a cai for a performance mod, shouldn't be telling anyone what they should or shouldnt be telling me what to say IN TECH.

I offered the info and I never said he is a fool, but he would be if he paid for someone to do it. You can't argue with that. That is like paying for someone to pump your gas.

If they are going on the front and the rear they just moung in place. No installing longer studs, then yes that requires a tad bit more work.

Resetting the PCM after cleaning the MAF is pretty much required. And yes I made a mistake about the IAR. BFD, celebrate it :nice:

And I was not suggesting "performance mods" I was suggesting preventative maint before he did ANY performance mods. Try to pay attention...
 
I am sorry, but resetting the ecu after cleaning the Maf is not required. If you have a SES/CEL on then you have to reset that MIL. But cleaning the Maf in general doesnt require resetting the ECU. I have done it a ton of times at work. Half the time people don't know their maf is dirty.

He asked for performance Mods, we offered him that info and you again offered preventive maintenance info as if it was for performance. Trust me I know what preventive maintenance is;)

Why does he have to do any preventive maintenance first? How do you know he has or hasn't done that already.

If he is up to date on it he will reply and say so.

Its what I do, others recommend mods, I recommed rock solid preventative maint and very limited mods.

Not everyone thinks the same about modding the shiot out of their cars here... I like to represent the alternative point of view...
 
That is fine, but if the topic is about performance and modding, don't offer a "change you oil" type reply. I recommend preventive maintenance seperate with my modding.

Preventive maintenace will not increase his hp when he is asking for what mods to get for more power. You are not really helping him at all.

You recommend him something he didnt ask for. We will recommend him what he does want and steer him in the direction he came here for. Tech advice and how to make his Mustang faster.

If he wanted preventive maintenance his Ford service dept has plenty of free literature for him. Plus the internet has plenty of sites for that. He can actually make a thread asking about preventive maintenance.
 
I got my underdrives installed at my local ford dealership for 70, and my spacers where put on in my garage. I got 1.25 inch spacers, that have there own studs, so, no problem there. Like previously said, wheel spacers are an idiot proof install, just take off the wheel, put them on, and put the wheel on over them, that easy.
