Anyone driven their GT in the snow yet?

I hate every second of driving my car in the snow. I'm petrified that some jerk is gonna cream me. I just can't afford a beater this winter and even snow tires are hard to come up with the cash for.

As far as the car's handling I've been winter driving forever and I find that I have to take turns VERY VERY slowly in the Stang. It likes going straight more than turning when the road is snow covered. :)

Pretty much how I feel :nonono: Just get me through the winter months without some tard slammin me or me sliding into a car/ditch/pole etc etc. :bang: How do you like the P-Zero's in the snow Boglin? I think their sufficient if you take it easy but you def. gotta be careful....if I could afford em and I thought it was worth it i'd def. be puttin snows on it....
 
Ok I admit it I was wrong,
I dug into the owners manual and found this about second gear in the auto,

2 (Second)
This position allows for second gear only.
• Provides engine braking.
• Use to start-up on slippery roads.
• To return to D (Drive) without Overdrive or 3 (Third), move the
transmission shift lever into the D (Drive) or 3 (Third) position.
• Selecting 2 (Second) at higher speeds will cause the transmission to
downshift to second gear at the appropriate vehicle speed.

I can also vouch for the blizzacks, those tires turn the mustang into a tank.

I feel the same. If I start out in second and be really easy they seem to not spin much. It seems that turning left or right you almost have to stop before you turn or it gets kinda loose.

I irony about snow tires is that if I could afford a new set of rims and snow tires I could buy a beater. Had a guy offer me his 92 Nissan Maxima for $500 and I had to pass. He ask me this month and December is a hard month to find extra cash in. :(

Like you said I just hope I make it through this winter untouched. Hopefully this will be the only winter I have to drive it in. It's not at all that I don't like to drive it, I love to drive it. I just worry myself to death when I'm out there. As soon as I pull into the garage it's always a big sigh of relief. "Another snow day without a ding"
 
Have to agree, if you are smart and use your head you can get aound in the snow just fine,hell I drove my Lightning year round and in some pretty bad snow stroms and never got stuck once.I am gonan be getting the Fiancee a new GT in a few weeks, Sounds like when winter hits I should invest in a couole snow tires for her to get around in. Live in wichita KS and she has to drive 35 miles each way to school. One question. Is it possible to get a set of snow tires that fit the 17's??
 
Twice actually, once in Jan or Feb of 2005 and once just recently. Now im in Texas so our idea of snow and ice isn't nearly as bad as it gets up north, but the roads I drive on are unsalted and unsanded. Turn off traction assist if you want to get moving at all, start slow, keep your speed low and anticipate any change in momentum.

Stop, starting, turning all all gradual things on ice. With a rearwheel drive car get on it a little too hard and the rear end will try to pass you.

2nd gear works great for starting, and in my recent winter experiance I don't think I ever actually left 2nd gear. 0mph-25mph all the way home.
