5.0 Resto... Reliable?

  • Sponsors (?)

Just bought some striker bushings made from hard plastic from the local auto parts store (HELP brand). It was 5 bucks for a set of 2 long and 2 short ones. Hopefully it lasts longer the rubber Resto ones. YMMV

I bought the hatch striker and know the hatchback doesn't close the same also bought weatherstripping for the door and know I have to close the door harder go with ford parts stay away from 50 resto parts if you can. they didn't have one thing that worked properly from weatherstripping to powerwindow motors.talking about the the power window motors I bought one from a local parts store that worked fine then I bought one from 50 resto and it goes up and down slow.

Has anyone from Canada ordered from them?? what was shipping like?

I have ordered from them. and I'm in Canada... Shipping was not that bad but the border fees are the bitch... I get two or three guys all in on a order so we only need to pay one boarder fee.. just split the shipping and boarder fees and it seems to be ok then :canada:

Oh well ... old as it may be, the thread bears repeating. I've dumped a hefty chunk of my yearly income into 50resto.com, and I've only had one minor hitch with them to date. I ordered a plain ol' leather shifter knob for my '89 notch, and they sent me the wrong knob - a 10th Anniversary 2003 Cobra knob worth twice the one I ordered! :D Better still, since the returns guy said it wasn't worth the shipping costs and such for me to send it back, he just sent out the correct knob to me and let me keep the '03 Cobra knob. Schweeeeeeet... :D

I've ordered ALOT of stuff from them. Some of the stuff are real Ford or a good copy. Other items are real crap chinese knockoffs like,
door strikers
6 piece headlight kit with water in them after a year
arm rest pad I threw away because of ill fitment
hood to body seal, $50!
door sills-good, uncountersunk screws that came with them-bad
If it has to do with iterior items, I prolly have them. Just ask and I'll give you my opinion...PB

I've spent around 700 with them. They respond very quickly to emails and such.

When I bought my 76MM C&L kit(with trueflow pipe) the somehow managed to F that up. I wanted Pro-M they were sold out, whatever. Orderd the C&L and they forgot to tell me that they were out of them too. After about 2 months, I got my parts and THEN they didn't give my the inlet pipe!! I left a honest testemonial on the site when it still was 50resto.

Dispite the bad, they are still a good company. And Scott Springer, high in their chain of command, called my house phone to appologize, and make a note on my account about it.

I'm from Canada and only order from them when I have to because they only ship using UPS.I always try to have things shipped using US Post ground. The shipping cost is usually cheaper than UPS and Fedex and the customs brokerage charged by Canada Post who deliver the US Post package is only $5 Cdn.(plus GST and PST,of course). It normally gets here (Mb) a day or two later than UPS.I have found that patience saves a lot of money.

50resto rocks!
i have got many things there, hatch latch strikers, speedo gears, my clutch..
all the good stuff. They are great as they have the little piddly small stuff in stock, the stuff thats hard to find.

lol wtf this thread is 2 years old

I've had great dealings with 5.0 Resto generally. I bought my MAC X-pipe & hatch weatherseal from them and had zero problems and quick delivery.

the only thing I've had trouble with was the Bassani X-pipe I ordered a few weeks ago for my 06 GT. They didn't send me the clamps, and they told me they'd have Bassani drop ship them to me straight from them (and confirmed this in a 2nd conversation with them). Since Bassani is in Cali and I'm in WV I figure it would take about a week. Well I wait two weeks and still no clamps. So I call Bassani and talk to a great fella named Sheldon. He does the research and says 5.0 Resto never sent them the request for my clamps. Sheldon @ Bassani gets in contact with Pam @ 5.0 Resto to get things lined out and Bassani sent my clamps out to me on Monday.

It's a shame I've been waiting to put this X-pipe on for three weeks since delivery.

Sounds like a mixed bag to me..........and I was going to order one of their spedo cables but the instructions say to let them know you have a VSS - guess what, the online order has no way to let them know. So I wrote them a question on their "contact us" function and never heard back. That's piss poor customer service in my book.
