I got 17x10.5 and 17x9 deep dish bullitts from mustangtuning.com. I have Sumitomo HTRZ 315/35/17 on back and 275/40/17 on front. On both back and front, the edge of the rim sticks out from the tire quite a bit. It almost looks like the tires isn't on the bead right, but I know it is b/c they are on the car now and the edge is the same on all 4 wheels, front and back. Just wondering if anyone else has had or does have this issue. I'm wondering if the wheels are just made like this, or if I just need a different set of tires to correct this. I had 18" deep dish bullitts before and my tires sat flush with the edge of the rim, so this is just kinda different looking for me. Thanks in advance for any input.

A ilttle help, maybe

I have a different style rim (cobra style) but is the 9" front and 10.5" rear with the exact same tires as yours...Sumitomo 315/35-275/40. I do not think they LOOK like they stick out that far but I did catch a curb with my passenger rear wheel and it never touched the tire. Only hit the rim. Put a little, hardly noticeble scuff along the edge of the rim about 2 inches. More like an impression than actually scuffing the rim. So the rims do stick out more than the tires enough to do that. BE careful going around curbs........Ken

I've been searching the internet, and it seems that the Sumitomo tires are the problem. I looked on ebay at the Deep dish bullitt 17" wheel/tire combo with the same Sumitomo tire combo I have and they stick out just like mine. Looked at the same thing with different brand tires, and the tires were flush with the edge of the rim. I have never curbed a set of wheels so I'm not worried about that, it just looks weird to me! Here's a link to an ebay thread, scroll down to the pics and you can see how the rim sticks out. The edge of the rim is black so it blends in at first, but look close and you will see it.

Do a search on that. I know I have seen some 315 nittos on a 10.5. Not sure, but I do know that the BFG's and Goodyears are wider than the nittos....and the sumis apparently. From what I remember, the 315 nitto is comparable to a 285 BFG....
