A friend of mine has the opportunity to get a pair (for free!)from another friend who sold his car. My question is, what kind of power increase would he see on a 96' gt with off h pipe? Also, what times do you think he should be able to run with the headers, h-pipe, and 3.73 gears?

all depends on the driver. what does he run without it? no major power increase though. I would say my friend that had long tube headers was always pulling on me on the higher RPS, bu now I got mine and there a good MOD:)

I have a friend with a Mach and he's gonna be having JBA shorties put on in a couple weeks. He did'nt want to go Long Tubes because he said he wanted to stay emissions legal. I saw on the JBA website they claim 9 RWHP gain and I think it was 7 TQ. Right now all he has is welded in Flow 40's and a C@L. He's gonna get a X-cal 2 also, and then dyno it and get everything dialed in.

Side Note: The shorties he's buying are $700. That's like 1.25 HP per $100 spent. I don't think their worth the price.

Real Quick the way i am taking this is that your friend has a friend who is selling his car and giving him the headers off of it.

Well i don't want to be a debby downer but if those headers are MACs than your friends gonna have a really, really hard time trying to install them. MACs tend to warp after being on a car and having all that heat go through them. I think thats why so many people despise MACs, because if you ever have to take them off to work on the engine you'll never be able to get them on the same again.

Now this is just what i heard and it was enough to scare me off but that doesn't mean its true. As for emissions you can still pass emissions with LTs. Its if you run an off-road X that you will run into problems with emissions.

That is my two cents on this subject. Good LUCK!!! I hope everything goes smooth!!!!!

lts are awesome and free free is no matter if its hard to install or not when i had bought my headers and o/r x pipe i paid 500 for it and i thought that was a deal.
i think i might go shorties next timethough just because of emissionsin virginia but if i could do it all over again i would still have my lts

His bestrun is 14.7, but he averages about 15 flat.

Nah,the dude that bought the headers sold his car before he had a chance to use them, so they're basically brand new.Don't know if they are MACs though. Thanks for the warning,I'll be sure to find out.

what should be expected HP wise with shortie's??
depends the average I've seen people post was about 5hp. Not a whole lot for the PITA they are to install. But you can still get the tranny in and out the starter in and out without removing them you can put a stock H pipe on if you need it for visual emmissions. Those would be the reasons why I did mine.
