Wondering what and how i can make a 331 stroker what needs to be done to the motor exactly yes im a real noob. The mechanic says theres too much wear on the walls And i might need a new crank this was done 2 yrs ago = new pistons, rings, crank, gay internals. Never redid the heads but he says theres too much oil seepage through the rings i dont believe it but I might as well make a 331 stroker with my new h/c/i So what needs to be done to the block. It will be converted to roller btw. Where do i buy a complete rotaing assembly kit for cheap? What do you reccomend to go with my 165 61cc afr's trickflow stage 1 cam, airgap intake. Should i just buy new rings or go the whole way? thanks for the help:eek:

wow that looks like a mess! well, to make it a 331 your gonna have to pull that motor out. then buy a kit. and finally hand it over to professional. if there is too much wear on the walls, it will need to be bored over .03-.04 unless its so worn it needs to go past that, then it would be recommended to get another block. As for making it a 331, most stroker kits you would need a new crank/pistons/rods among other small parts, not completely sure for 331, havent researched it in depth. You can find really cheap kits on ebay or in ads in the magazines, not sure of the quality.

looks like your looking to build a real mild setup.

to put it simply. All it is is a 5.0 with a larger piston and a longer stroke of that piston. It involves a fair amount of machine work and usually it is a good idea to have a professional bolt it all together.

always remember that you get what you pay for. you don't want to have to tear it apart and do it again. yes some people do have good luck with the cheaper kits, but is it worth it to take that chance? spend the few extra bucks now for the better parts that will hold up to abuse.

for the block work, if you get i beam rods then it will not need much in clearancing for the bottom of the cylinder wall. h beam will need more. other than that, the machine shop cost shouldn't cost all that much for the basic stuff.

i would reccomend getting in touch with brian at www.adperformance.com or a guy on this board that runs RnH performance i think.

Looks like a decent kit..The lower cost is because of the Keith Black hypereutectic pistions. If you dont plan on staying naturally aspirated. Not using a supercharger or nitrous this kit should be fine.. There are a couple of ways to make a 331 but the most common is 3.25 crank, .030 overbore of the cylinder, and I cant remember the rod length. Dont forget to get the rotating assembly balanced. With the 331 I dont think you will have to notch the bottom of the cylinder.

Thats a good kit...Only thing I see is the 10.5 to 1 compression ratio... Not good for super charger.. Depending on what heads you have, that kit with the high compression, would cause you to use high octane fuel...But should run very strong....I would consider a custom cam if budget allows that would take full advantage of cubes... Do a search for custom cams, flowtech industries, I cant remember the guys name at flowtech. He can hook you up with cam and AFR heads...

i would be more inclined to get the kit from brian at AD. he will work with you on choosing parts and what not for your setup. he won't try to sell you something you won't need either. stick with good name brands parts, and you really can't go wrong.

Eagle-good name, but just make sure you have a block that can clean up with 0.030" overbore. I've got a std bore roller block with a set of mexican main caps installed (block needs line honed) that I've already clearanced for a stroker...I know I know, keep it in the classifieds...:nonono: :nono:

I just ordered a kit from Coast High Performance. They are super nice kit's a are very affordable. A 331 for under900 bucks. Just make sure your cylinders are in good enough shape to order a .30 kit. If your cylinder walls are super bad you may have to go more and more overbore.
