98 GT - Wont Start?

I have a 98 GT that has ran great, but it will not start today. You can hear the starter clicking, but it sounds as if it doesnt even engage the flywheel. The motor does not even try to turn over. There is not a fuel problem, I took of the scharader and we are getting fuel when cranking over. I do not know at this point what to try.

Here is a little background to help diagnose the problem.

I installed a zex nitrous kit last week, but never have used it. I wired it up and all of the kit works. I do not think that has anything to do with the problem.

I installed a Pioneer CD player a few days ago and it seemed to work fine, but I installed an amp and subs today and after I started to crank it over it worked fine for a bit then the CD player was losing power speratically. It would come back then kick off. I removed the fuse from the power wire for the amp and tried it again, the car still wouldnt kick over but the CD player seemed fine.

Now the CD player will not come on at all. I am going to check the fuses but any other suggestions.

The starting problem could have just been a coincidence or it could have been because of a fuse being blown by shorting out a wire, or who knows.

Any ideas would be helpful

Thanks

Check the battery connection. If you have a multimeter, check the voltage of the battery.

Does it click, your gauge sweeps, then does nothing? Yeah, check the connection.

It may be low, but all lights, alarm, etc all still work.

I am wondering if maybe the alarm somehow has a starter kill that is on. I am not sure how those work though. The alarm was on it before I got it.

No blown fuses.
It's common for the lights horn and stereo to work w/ the battery still being dead as it takes all 12 volts from ur batt to start ur car where as the others don't so much:)

I second the dead battery, mine did the EXACT same thing last week, and I had to get a new battery. Take the battery out and take it up to a auto parts store they will test it for you and tell you if its not holding a charge anymore. But it for sure sounds like an electrical charging problem.

More like, it requires a lot of amperage(quantity), something the battery doesnt have enough of for the starter, but does have enough of for the lights etc.
