Cutting coils?

  • Sponsors (?)

I just did my front susp. It's 1/2" higher than I wanted it. It's hard to find the motivation to tear it all back out to lower it for 1/2".:rlaugh:

1" to tall and I would have done it that very day. I'm hoping it "settles".:D

On my '68 when I went from 1" drop 620's to a wedge kit and 520 progressives I ended up cutting 3/4 of a coil off to get the stance I wanted. It was a bit of a pain but I did it 1/4 coil at a time until I got it how I wanted...

Thanks for the input all,

I went for the softer 390/525 springs. Convertibles are MUCH weaker than coupes or FB's, even with subframe connectors. I didn't want that stress on the chasiss just driving around town.
The linear 525 springs and Ebock shocks work well on smooth road until you run over a pot hole, etc. You can feel the "jar" as the car takes the shock, not the suspension. With the progressives and roller perches it's a great ride and everything goes through the suspension, but may car looked like a puppy trying to pee. :notnice: I've got the the 525's back in with the roller perches and that's better, but I've got to cut the progressives for the best of all worlds.

68Restoman, That looks like my stance with the linear rate coils. Fender lip is just on top of the tire. Nice job
