A/C problem with 2000 GT

It's probably a stupid easy fix (I'm hoping so) but the other day, my A/C started acting up a bit. It still blows cold air through the tubing under the dash, but quit coming through the regular dash vents. At the same time that happened, a hissing noise under the dash started, that almost sounds like a vacuum leak. The hissing noise does seem to diminish when the engine is under load. And the hissing does not go away with the A/C in off position.

Now the defrost/heat will still direct air towards the windshield, it just seems to act up when I move the control to normal or max A/C.

Any ideas, anybody ran across this before? Of course I only notice on the hottest dang weekend of the year. (so far.)

This one is easy, a vacuum leak has occured below the dash. The line that is leaking controls vent positions. The default vent position is defrost for safety reasons. Reconnect the line by following the sound.
