Stereo problems

I just bought a 99 gt and it came with the Mach 460 and an Alpine CDA-9825 head unit. When I first bought it I realized there was no bass, but I thought it was probably something with the settings on the head unit. I wasn't very concerned about the stereo at that point. This morning I started playing with the stereo and realized the sound was only coming out of the tweeter speakers. No sounds were coming out of the midrange/sub speakers. Has anyone had this problem before and does anyone know how to fix it? I was thinking maybe it could be a fuse(If so does anyone know which one controls those four speakers?) or maybe the amps arent connected or somethings not connected right. I am kind of a stereo newbie, but I would like to fix this on my own if I can. Thanks in advance for any help

Obviously the previous owner messed up with the wiring on the deck. I'd pull it,if the factory plugs are still intact, get the proper adaptor and wire it properly to the deck. If they've butchered it up then running new wires is about the only option. Throw some caps(bass blockers) on the tweeters and run new wire direct to the deck.

Seems to me like the previous owner had an aftermarket sub and amp in the car. Probably pulled it out before selling it and did not bother to re-connect the factory system back up.

Here's a link to the 460 wire diagrams for a 03 it might be the same as a 99

Ding ding ding!

I agree. It may be as simple as the remote-wire not being hooked up. I HOPE that's all that is the matter- for your sake.

I might be wrong but the tweets run off the deck power and the mids run off the amp under the deck. It does sound like the amp under the deck isnt turning on or has been bypassed. either way pull the deck out and check all the connections

i have a problem with mine. i own a 1996 mustang gt with the shaker system they ran that year. i have a pioneer headunit. basically my problem is that the music fades. its weird, it sounds like you can still hear something but its muffled type thing. like its like talking then putting your hand over your mouth and keep talking....the sound just kinda drops randomly and im not sure why.....maybe need a new headunit?

Sounds like the new stereo is working with the Mach system, it need to be bypassed.
