What to do next??

Ok, I admittedly know very little about modding the Stang (as per the stupid hood pins question :p ). So at this point, I've decided not to get a hood, my car is not and never will be a show car, and I don't have anything under the hood to warrant the hood, and couldn't really make up my mind which hood anyway. So I'm going to tell my husband I'd rather do something else with the money. I was thinking Bassani or SLP exhaust, but then I think it's stupid to put money there, since I already have the Flows (on the car when I bought it). So, my question is what to do next, I've got about $650 available.
Keep in mind it's my DD, so it can't be out of service for more than 1 day at a time, and I do plan to swap the engine out and get a s/c in 3 years.

i would get an h pipe or x pipe. since you have flows get an h it sounds better. you could also pic up some gears too 4.10 3.73
My friend's got a Mac O/R H on his 98 GT (I believe he has Flows) and it sounds awesome. They're not too expensive, either. My setup sounds awesome, too, I just don't know what it would sound like on a 2v. Another vote for 4.10s. Bigger MAF or TB, and why not, a good Seafoam treatment.

Hell, get your intake ported.

I was thinking about the h pipe and gears, but I'll need a tune for the gears, won't I? Thinking I won't have enough money. I have to get the h pipe with cats, too. I live in NJ :nonono:
And as for having the intake ported, I thought that would be more money than I have, am I wrong there?

Gears are a good idea, but there's a good chance your car may be down for two days if the shop is busy and they don't start it early enough in the day. What are you after? If you're into anything other than straightline driving, MM full length subs are a must have, and are way under your budget. You could also get the Mach I handling kit along with the subs and still be under budget. The handling would be a night and day difference and you'll lose the 4x4 look.

Use of the car: I drive it to work 5 days a week, 3 miles each way, and total about 6,000 miles a year on it. I'd like to eventually end up with a fast street car that occasionally goes to the track. (Never been there, cause the husband shows no interest in going with me and I don't want to go alone :( but I think I'd like it). So looking more for an occasional quarter mile car.
My husband keeps saying he thinks I should get an SCT or Diablo next, but I was really leaning toward an h pipe and gears. Also wondering if I got an o/r h, how hard would it be to put the factory pipe back on once every 2 years for inspection???

First, thanks for the ideas. Here's what I decided on:
Mac o/r h (going on tomorrow)
Sct tuner
Accufab 75mm t/b and plenum (husband very nicely gave the go ahead to add this on even though it was over the budget).

SCT Xcal.

You will notice a big difference more so than getting a TB Gears should be a 1st or 2nd mod with these cars.
Ok, I'm listening. Originally I was thinking gears, but then I wouldn't have been able to afford the SCT Xcal. So I decided on the Xcal instead of gears. That about used up the last of my money. Then the husband tells me last night go ahead and charge the tb if you want it, but no more mods for a year, so the tb is an extra $420 over what I had. What should it cost me to get the gears and have them installed (under the $420??). I've got a good performance shop that I'm pretty friendly with, so I don't have to worry about them ripping me off, but I want to get this taken all decided today while the husband's feeling generous. Also, probably gonna start a war with this, but why 4:10's? I was thinking 3:73's before all this tb business.

you also don't have to order accufab!!! They are the nicest but way more expensive then the rest, The HP gains are minimal over the rest and you can save over $100 by going with BBK plen/TB or C&L plenum/TB or even better you can find great deals on plenums & TB's used. I sold my brand new C&L plenum for $100 when i found my blower deal....if you want when i see a good deal i'll let you know.
Oh why are you getting a tuner if your not getting gears?

Alot of $$ wasted on parts that she won't see that much of a gain. Mainly because they sound good to have, but no real mods to support having them yet.

Gears alone will outweight the gains of a tb and xcal2 by three fold.

I got the tuner cause my husband kept insisting I should get the tuner (originally I wanted gears even before the h pipe, but he kept telling me to get the tuner, so I gave in on the gears, and the tb was a bonus part he threw in that I was never expecting, so I went for it. I really would rather get the gears, but my shop told me a little over $600, and without the tuner, don't want to do the gears, so it's kind of a catch 22.
Bob, I already ordered the Accufab from mustangtuning and had them include it in the tune, if I cancel that and order the BBK, will it affect the tune at all?
I'm so confused!!! I needed to order quick before there were any second thoughts from the other half, and now I think I screwed up..
