ryan218... Why don't you just talk your dad into helping you build your first motor. early 302 blocks are cheap and good parts to put in them are all over the place. Maybe he'll like the idea of you two building a engine together. Then when your older you'll have your 302 and a good trans ready to go into it. Maybe ask him to take you out to a track when it's completed so he can show you how to drive it. I was 13 when my dad was teaching me how to drive, launch, drift and brake. Good old parking lots at night/morning.

thought about it. but it would be better i get a block first and go from there :nice: i would need a engine stand though. where can i get them and who has the best deal on one?

there re parking lots but they all have to much stuff in them lol to many poles and crap. and walmarts parking lot :nono: they have a guy in a ranger patrolling it 24/7 :rlaugh: so my best luck is to go back to piqua to the old high school. they have a access road that's about good distance long maybe a 1/4 mile  that he is going to take me first. i have only drove my car twice. on the way back from buying it. i was scared to death too. it was making a lot of noise from the right rear and the brakes were really touchy. not so much the throttle :notnice:. and then the 2nd time well. don't want to talk about it. ive got to drive my dads a couple times too. his is much more fun. its got the 5.0 and 5 speed :nice: . but throttle was touchy to me and even more so the clutch :nonono:

were taking the jet skies and to boat to the lake this weekend and it sa 2 hour drive so were taking the jeep to tow the boat with and the jet skies are already at the lake. and i have talked him into taking my car so that i can drive it part way there. alot of back roads :nice:

as for the 5.0 build up  how should i ask him about it:(

he knows when every i want something cause i will follow him around for 10 mins or so then ask him and by that time he already knows what i want. don't know how but he dose.

so how should i ask him?

thanks for the help

wait till you have kids, then you will understand.
dont you hate hearing that? seriously he's known you all his life and knows your next move before you even make it. he knows you want a 5.0, do dont beat around the bush, that is a sign of intimidation. ask him if he will help you build up a long block. If he says no, save your money for a year and ask him again later.

Be bluant, don't beat around the bush(no pun intended Frankenstang). Go right up to him and ask him if you two could talk about your plans for the car. Express how much you would like it if the two of you could do a engine build up together. Tell him you think it would help you respect the car more, cause trust me it will. I helped my dad's friend build my fathers 92 motor. Maid me look at the hard work that goes into building a 400hp motor. I never beat on any of my v8 cars or drove them stupid. My festiva was a different story though! He does know that the minute you get with your school buddies, your going to do stupid stuff. No getting around it, all of us have done it! You just need to prove to him that you can handle the responsibility of an American Icon!

Pay your dues. No matter what you say now about how you're not going to race it or drive fast on the street with a 5.0 in it, that's total :bs: and you know it. There are countless teens out there who said the same thing, only to have wrecked their cars and wound up hurt or dead. I had to work my ass off for every car I've ever owned...I didn't even get my first Mustang until I was 21. Take your time and 5 years from now you will know why your parents didn't want you to have a 5.0 at such a young age. If you hate your car that much sell it until you actually have your license. If I was in your dad's position I wouldn't let you have a 5.0 either until you demonstrated that you can handle yourself behind the wheel. You're going to encounter a lot of worse things in your life than this, just relax.

I can honestlly say that i have never street raced anyone ever.I dont drive fast and iv never had a ticket.I will get on my car and go from like 45 to 65 and let off but never in conjested areas and in heavy houseing areas and im 18 and iv had it sense before 16 so dont say that he IS going to street race and speed but i do still see what your saying

Everyone otld me I would race and kill myself in the 5.0, I nevere speed, maybe 5 over. I have street raced a few times, not like organized, just me and a buddy at a stop light and we run em to 70 or so.
