I have a chance to buy a 94 cobra with 120000 miles on it it needs paint and a few other cosmetic things fixed but the car runs strong. He is gonna give it to me for 4500$. Do you guys think it is a good deal or bad deal? I expected the car to be a little quicker. It was reasonably slower than my car. What are the diiferences in the cobra motor and the regular 5.0. Other than the intakes (upper and lower) and electric fan.Does it have different heads and so on.The car is completly stock other than air filter.

There is an all inclusive thread on this, do a search.
the heads are differnt, Gt40s, roller crane rockers, differnt spec cam and came with 24lb injectors (among other things)

I picked up a 94 cobra this winter in good shape for $4,300, that had high miles, lifter tick, and TO bearing noise. It was a really good deal, but feels really slow, despite that I got her to run 14.66 a week ago at the drag strip. It really feels more like a mid 15 sec car to me, but it is what it is.

4,500 could be a great deal, just becasue they are a great platform to work off of.

And the Cobra computer tune blows the 94-95 GT factory tune out of the water.

I'd be very interested in it personally.

Good luck.

It sounds like a pretty good deal.

I don't beleive the cobras had different gears, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

As far as the motors go, they had cast iron GT40 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, different (smaller) cam, upper and lower intake, and probably bigger TB and MAF.

Yes, the cobra cam is smaller than a HO cam. I guess the 1.7 RR's were supposed to make up for that.

They also came with the "world class" T5 tranny, which is a little stronger than a regular T5.

And like someone said, the brakes are better.

Among the other things listed above, I believe the Cobras came with a different gear ratio, and a higher flow fuel pump.

lets see.... 94/95 GT's came with 2.73, 3.08 or the optional 3.27 ?

didn't the 94/95 Cobras come with 3.55s?

*guys correct me here, i may have that all wrong.

I think snakes got the optional (for GT's) 3.08's.

A semantics note: the cobra got the cobra spec gearbox (WC T5's have been on GT's going backwards all through the aero-fox run).
