New Best Time!

I went to the track with my new (but used) GT40's, Exploder intake and E303 cam with my old school Firestone wrinkle slicks and pushed out a best of 13.84 @ 98.5 with a nasty bogging launch. The week before I ran a 14.6 @ 95 on streets. One run I was in front of my friend all the way up til I missed 4th, he ran a 13.5 @ 107 and I got a 13.86 @ 95. I'm thinkin I can get a 13.6 if I can get a better launch. I also cant believe how crazy launches are on slicks. The first run I thought my car broke! I started launching at 3500, but it bogged. I launched a couple of times at 4000 - 4200 and it still bogged a little bit. Unfortuanately, on my last run, the clutch cable sleeving collapsed and lost all its length, so in turn the clutch wasn't completely disengaging with the pedal down. So next spring Im gonna take out the ol slicks again and hope for the best! I also still have to get an adj. fuel pressure regulator, a bigger mass air, a TFI module for my dizzy, and plug wires. Im real happy with the outcome so far. Oh and everything i out on my car in the last week only cost me just under 1000 bucks.

Wait till you try your first rev limiter launch... Why else would Ford give you a two step at 6250 if they didnt want you to launch off it?

I agree though. My first ever slick pass (ET Streets actually) was a 4000 bog and a 1.84 which threw everything from the front of the car to the trunk, and opened my center console on me. Needless to say I wasnt ready for it! Practice and you could be in the mid to low 13s, and getting the car tuned and perfect that combo should go 12s without issue!

25th-- I remember my first 'slick' pass on BFG drag radials slicked out. I got lucky and went 1.78. I wasn't ready for it, my helmet hit the halo headrest...I remember widening my eyes and thinking son of a b! It didn't bog really though, just went. My console also flipped open, good times!!

I watched my sunglasses go by as well as a cell phone and some other misc. garbage, and had to fish all the loose change and stuff out of the way back of the trunk.

Now I launch harder but the center console rarely opens up. I have been in the 1.6s and still it stays closed. Might have just gotten unlucky!
