Shelby GTH

Flying into Tampa next month and couldn't resist the urge to rent a Shelby GTH. It's $100 a day for the rental so I'll only have it for 24 hours (then I'll rent a Focus or whatever Hertz offers). I just couldn't justify $500 to the wife for the whole trip....she just doesn't get it. I'm like, C'mon, it's a Shelby GTH. She just doesn't get it.
Hopefully Hertz follows through on the reservation and doesn't try to offer me something "comparable" when they tell me "We're sorry, the Shelby GTH isn't available today. Can I offer you a 1995 3 cyl Geo Metro for a slightly reduced rate?" LOL

I wanna rent one. Dang hertz website wont tell me where they are though. And I dont feel like searching every airport location. Anyone know how to tell where U can get one other than Zona?

I have one rented for the 27,28th in San Diego. The girl I spoke to at Hertz offerd to ride down the beach topless if I would just let her ride in it. Told my wife about this and she said, " Make that two of us".

Man I am not sure there will not be a twelve step program for us Mustang owners soon.

Dont quote me on this but, I hear it's a two day minimum rental from some other post a while back.
When I rented a red stang I only had it one day. :)

Well, right now I have it reserved for 5 days. I have to change it, though due to the expense. I guess I'll have to rent it for two days instead of one...Damn! Whatever will I do???

I work at a Dealership and I got a Auto Week pdf file from my Boss cause she knows how I feel about Mustangs and ...I don't know if this is news to anyone 'cause I am never here... but Ford announced that as of January the GTH will be available for sale...the article says 35K plus a 5k to 7k premium...
if anyone wants the pdf to read drop me a pm...

I also heard that they have possibly been detuned from the stock specs so the performance is very bad. A video floating around of one at the drag strip running like an absolute dog.

wait, a hopped up engine is then detuned? does not make sense, unless its all a marketing hype. the driver probably did not know how to drive it.

I just got done reading an article on them. All of the rentals have the traction control permantly set to on and are all automatics.

And it also said Ford is going to make the car an option for buyers which should retail for around $34,000. The consumer car can be had with a manual and said something about optional 3.73's

In my opinion, $35,000 is on the top end of the price scale for what the car will be. $32,000 might be reasonable. A premium of $5,000 to $7,000 will allow only the wealthy to buy and screw us enthusiasts who love the Mustang but don't have the money to compete.
Dealer markups suck. But as long as people are willing to pay, that will be reality.
I won't pay more than sticker for anything, period. And I bleed Ford blue and love Mustangs almost more than anything.
I would dearly love one of the Shelbys but I'm not paying through the nose.
