eagle rods vs. manley? VT engine

the stock cobras have the manley rods. they have been holding up to the modded cobras hp with no problems. all the good engine builders build their built blocks with manley h beam rods.

i was just wondering why vt puts eagle rods in their stroker 4.6 mod engine?

anyone know why or how the eagle rods compaire to the manley ones?

I've got eagle 5.7 H-beam rods and crank in my 550 HP racing motor. It withstands sustained RPM's of the 7000 range.

Either will work the same. I have eagles in my 99 and in my stroker pushrod engine. I didnt buy manleys because they were more expensive and didnt have bolt upgrades at the time and its the bolt that will fail before the rod. Manley does have nice billet rods.

My Manley's came with ARP fasteners already? Didn't need upgrades unless I'm missing what your saying.

i've been doing other projects and kinda put the car on the back burner...i was doing some interior work last week on it and it kinda but a spark of interest back in me so i'm gonna call my builder and see if he's not super busy. I have about 95% of the parts i need so hopefully soon....

Manley, Eagle, Scat, as well as a few others are all come from the same chinese forgings (same rods). The differences are in the finish work, and the fasteners.

Once again i can't answer your question but i know they had problems with a certain type of piston, Diamond I think, in the stroker. They were a reputable enough company to stop using them which was good. When I phoned about a stroker kit from VT last year that's what I was told. Probably to keep the cost down.

P.S. I just looked, you can get the Manley's as an option on the Stroker kit, just costs more.

[FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica]PK and Kris are right. All the rods are manufactured at the same place overseas. It's just the end machining and bolts that differ. I know our engine builders unanimously all prefer the final finish and bolts of the Eagle over Manley. We offer both rods, and the customer can choose whichever he/she prefers. Either is great quality. We've built 3 Lightning motors in the last couple of weeks for '03's that have upgraded to KB blowers, and all have busted the rods and in turn destroyed the whole bottom end. Just an FYI. Crank and pistons seem to be great, rods are the weak link from what I've seen. Personal opinion.[/FONT]
