I am an 8-year owner, but new to the forums.

I have a 1 barrel Carter (RBS) Carburetor on a 200 in-line 6. Using two different Carter cores, I've rebuilt the carb multiple times and still have fueling issues. Currently, the needle-seat is POURING out fuel when the car starts. So, I turn if off quickly and can't figure out what the problems is. Much of the advice that I get is..."the needle and seat is INSIDE the carb. You dont need one in the fuel line." I KNOW this is not the case with what I have. The car ran fine for many years with the needle-seat where it is. Like I said, I've taken the carb apart many times...there's not a needle-seat inside anywhere.

Second, but associated problem.....
The threads on the needle-seat are wearing out, but I have yet to find a version of a carb rebuild kit that contains the needle seat.

Q1: What's causing the fuel leak and how can I fix it?
Q2: Where can I find a needle-seat for an out-of-carb Carter one-barrell?

Thank you for your help. My stang has sat in the garage too long...

It has been a long while since I looked at the carb on a 200 - 6, but I have never met a carb yet that did not use a needle and seat (well very few any way) as the float raises it presses down on the needle stopping fuel flow into the float bowl.
a sinking float or damaged needle/seat can cause flooding.
high fuel pressure, leaking power valve, amongst many other causes.
the single barrel carbs were also notorious for the base plate screws coming loose causing massive vacuum leaks

Fordsix.com For all of your 6 cylinder needs! HiPo too! In any case... Try swapping carburetors to a holley 1940 or an autolite 1100, if you still have the original load-o-matic distributor that came with the car. It will run great, and I think you might still be able to get the 1940 from holley, rebuilt, sometimes. I have a holley 1940 and it runs great. Are you sure that the float is set correctly? Also, a good kit should come with a needle and seat. The holley 1940 has a needle valve on the outside, which works the float, and a needle and seat which is like a jet type deal. Take a look into it.
