i'm getting a new long block at the end of the year and here is what DSS is suggesting. i will probably go with a 4.6 pro modular instead of the 5.0 super mod because its a little cheaper. also i will probably go with the cheaper heads. no difference in hp, one just has new castings. it will save me a grand or so. that will leave a little more money for other things such as transmission and such. if any of you have suggestions on what else i need after the install, let me know.

I dont know a whole lot about the aftermarket 4.6 engines but I have read a lot of people say not to go with DSS. But MPH sells Vt engines and have heard nothing but good outta them, you may want to check them out.

^ +1 PLEASE avoid DSS at all costs....iv heard ALOT of bad about them.

www.modularpowerhouse.com Call them and they can set you up with engines from www.vtengines.com .

I know you can go directly through VT, but MPH is an awsome shop and I try and swing any buisness their way....it wont cost you anymore and both places can make money.
And I STRONGLY recomend that you let MPH tune your car....Tim Barth is arguably the best modular mustang tuner in the nation. I have personally had him tune my car and hes the only one I will EVER take my car to....especially a blown car.

They're near Atlanta aren't they? You drive there for a week or something? Or ship it there, have them ship it back?

10 grand?! JEBUSS!!!!

Stay away from DSS man. You can get a really nice shortblock from MMR for like 3 grand. They you can slap on VT heads. OR you can get an entire VT longblock. MPH is another awesome company.:nice:

yea i have heard mixed things about DSS. the only reason as of right now that i have DSS is because out of the big 3 engine builders (DSS,CHP,VT) they are the only ones who have gotten back to me with a quote. i will try to give MPH a call tomorrow and see what they can do for me. yea the 10000.00 is high. i got the long block down to 8700.00 but i wish they will tell you ahead time when you wanna buy this and they put it together, that there is a 1200.00 labor fee. are MPH fairly reasonable compaired to this price?

im not sure about MPH's prices, but you get what you pay for man. i would pay top dollar for the best products and service. just my 2 cents

I don't know why they included BOTH sets of heads and BOTH sets of cams on that quote, but that's why it totals $10300+.

Take out the NEW head castings (leave the USED ones on the quote) and remove the AFM camshafts also (leaving the Crowers on there), and it comes out to $7452.74.

FWIW - Almost all the negative things I've seen/heard about DSS has all been "I heard.." or "my friend..". Trying to find real first-person testimonials about DSS was hard since most forums won't let you search on three-letter words. I've since gotten a DSS shortblock and heads and received what appeared to be excellent products. So far the car is running great.
