95 - Throttle Problems???

Guys

I have a 1995 Saleen that has aquired a mind of it's own and I need some help. There is no ryhm or reason when this happens but the throttle just sticks. The only way to slow this pony down is to down shift or put it in neutral and hit the brakes. It's almost like the Cruise Control is stuck, the car will just drive itself when you let off the gas. The car doesn't slowly come to a stop, it's like I have an onboard ghost pushing the gas down. I took it in for this problem a few weeks ago and they told me the throttle body was gummed up. They took it off and clean it and it was good for a few weeks. Then it starting acting up again yesterday but it's fine today. I had a buddy tell me to disconnect my Cruise control........could that be the case? Also, I have tried to use the CC but it doesn't seem to work. Could the throttle body be dirty again? The car has very low mile and was not driven for a long time and now I am driving it a bit. Any help appreciated.

I would check for codes and if none then i would check manually the operation of the throttle body. If it doesnt stick at some point and is completely clean next i would inspect the linkage and go from there.

hey bill,
well it sounds like your on the right track, i mean there are only so many possibilities for a throttle problem, you might try this, disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body and disconnect the throttle cable from the pedal, with you on one end and someone else on the other gently pull the cable back and forth, there soould really be no resistance at all, the cable might be starting to fray or have little burs on it somewhere, i mean if you dont feel good about it just pull the whole cable out and inspect it, sometimes the cable sheath will start to rust inside which eventually will cause sticking, hope this can help you
