I think my old car is faster than my new car, and i am pretty sad about it.

Yes when stock or even with bolt ons .....
An aode with no mods can be pretty lack luster

It just drains away so much power

One should cull it away before spending any money on it
or
Give it the help it needs with
steeper ratio gears
higher stall tc
shift kit
etc

They can be very efficient :nice: no doubt about it :D
but
Still ain't the same as rowin through em all ;)

Just one of the many decisions to make with our hobby :rlaugh:

mine has a shift kit and whoa i love it i cant wait till i get some 4.10s in it.... i will be loving it...(like the mcdonalds comercials lol)

it is so much more relaxing and plesent to drive...if i want to get agresive i manually shift.

my 93 w/ the t5 has a heavy clutch and kinda hurts the knee its kinda messed up though...so you know...it is fun dont get me wrong....the best thing about a stick is reving and dumping the clutch lol.

foxes weighed a lot less how much is alot? the hp was raised for 94 so i thought it balanced everything out???

Fox coupes weighed a good bit less than our GT's. I think they're somewhere around ~3000 stock. What I hear is the fox GT's weighed in about 100-200 less than our cars. I don't really think they raised the HP from 93 to 94.

94GTMOOSE, 14.19 is a really good for a SHO. I'm guessing you had a few things done to it?

:OT: Did anybody read the new 5.0 Mustang mag about the V-12 S197? An interesting fact they pointed out was that the Aston Martin V-12 is actually 2 SHO engines put together.....I want one :D

The HP in 94 was raised from 93 but the 88-92 fox's had 225 compared to our 215. 93 had like 205 I believe. Not sure why.

Our cars aren't as light as a fox but the fox isn't exactly light. Fox's are still gonna be around 3k.

The 5.0 itself isn't that bad. But ford should have kept up with the Jone's with the 94-98. The z28 was making between 275-305hp in these years. I know my brothers 93 z28 will destroy any 5.0 I have rode in. Unless it has some major mods. That LT1/t56 is a beast. But its a major pain in the *** to fix.

1. They lowered the HP from 93-94... the upper intake they wanted to use didn't fit under a SN95 hood so the intake from the t-bird was borrowed. Thats one of the reasons why intake swaps are big time for our cars.

2. If your SHO was trapping 14.19, then its probly more then a second faster than your stock auto SN95. Thats the breaks.

Supposedly those trannies are very nice. If I wanted to stay auto I would probably try the swap. But I have always wanted a manual in this car so its time.

Did ford change the intake manifold in the 95 GT? I was under the impression the 94-95 had 215hp.

I think you guys are right. The manifold even looks different...to me anyway. It looked smaller than my 90.'

I looked up the fox lx and it shows 2800# on edmunds and that is with V8. There was really not much to them. Plus 94 added lots of chassis stiffening. PLUS my 94 vert compared to that fox is a 600 pound difference. Any of you guys work out, just think of slamming a 45 # 7 foot bar on theback of your vehicle with 4 of those big 45 pound plates on each side. Now add 2 MORE on each side and then add some tiny weights to boot. That's the diff between that LX and my vert!

I can't wait to get the slushbox out of mine. I am also getting a fiberglass hood. But thats as far as the weight reduction mods are going. Keeping full interior and all goodies besides emissions.

back to the topic at hand:

my SHO wasn't real light either. leather seats 7 way power seats, four doors. tons of sound deadening. it had every option. it was big and heavy, with a big v6 that was supposed to power a boat. hell it was even built by yamaha. so basically my car was a mutant.

but boy could she fly. i could pin that tac and drop the clutch and she would scream like a chainsaw on crack(i had sho shop exhaust, and though effective it had a terrible sound). She was a sleeper. not many people knew that there was a five speed 220 hp taurus. What was real cool about the car was at a certain rpm a second set of fuel runners would open up and the power curve would just spike. almost like i was hitting the nitro boosters on a vid game. you could really feel it.

oh that 1/4 mile time was a typo, it really ran a 14.91 not 14.19. which in drag racing is alot.

sorry about the rant about my old ride. But the grocery getter(that was her name) was very special to me.....

....Well that was until i made a left turn and my front right tire decided that it didn't want to and rolled away like in the movies. yeah it just kept going for about a half mile or so going straight like it never left the car. so i scraped the car and got the stang.

I feel ya, my old 98 maxima 5spd whould walk all over my 95 :nonono:
I gave up on my 5.0 don't like the low revs, and it runs out of steem to fast! That's why i got the 4v, now I can play :nice:
