I went to do a burnout last night and I think I smoked the clutch pretty hard.

I power braked with my heel, and had my toe on the gas. I eased the clutch out and throttled up.

When the engine was at 6k I was off the brake and clutch but the car was not moving and the wheels were not spinning. There was smoke..from the clutch!

Everything is working normally this morning except for that gawd awful burnt smell! :notnice:

Should I be worried about anything or just rock on? What about that smell? Will it go away with time?

Arrgh....

stock tune? this is pretty normal. the smell will go away, but i would not try it again until you get a tune. nothing should be wrong, except maybe a little glazing on the clutch. if it shifts fine, i would not worry about it too much, just dont do it again.

Are you saying a GT with a 5spd won't do a burnout with the stock tune? My 07 does just fine and it is stock. Or am I missing something from your post?

I'll stay away from you if I need a used GT.:D

Yeah hes right you can't slip the clutch at all even with a tune if your gonna brake stand it. What I've found works best is revving to about 5,500 then just sliding my foot off the clutch to the left. OH and btw I did the whole smoke the clutch thing about 6 thousand miles ago. I'm still ok. knock on wood

Good luck dude and stay off the main drags while burnin
