Temporary dash hole fix help

  • Sponsors (?)

I've thought about a speaker grill but can't seem to find one that will cover but isn't too big. It's an odd size, 5x7. I need to find something that is somewhat flexible as the dash is slightly curved. Or if I can find a plastic cover heat and bend it a little.

I initially was planning on using a dash pad but was told they don't fit very well and I was better off replacing the dash. I'm planning on doing that as soon as I can but just can't stand looking at that hole anymore. When I bought the car there was a tach stuck in the hole. Not connected or anything, just stuck in there. WTF

Yeah, I thought about a vid system. Shouldn't be too distracting while driving.

I have seriously thought about an overlay but really think that in the end I'll just replace the dash. It's not too expensive just more than I can spend right now. I'll leaning towards a simple plate screwed in maybe alum or something like that.

if you look hard enough on ebay you can usually find the dash overlays for under 60 bucks, whcih is quite a bit less than the almost 400 bucks for a new dash pad.

I have an overlay I don't use anymore in like new condition that I will sell you for $50 if you want it but I don't know what shipping is going to cost.

Here's how it looked installed, they really don't look bad at all for the price. It's packaged in the box my new dash came in from the last time I was going to sell it but I can take it out and get you fresh pictures if you are interested.

It's simple math really. My car was a 10 footer before and it was good enough but I got in a bad accident in 2004 and doing a complete rebuild on the car now with alot of modified work and I got about a 35k insurance settlement so I don't have to cut any corners really. Once you start replacing all the main parts nothing that is "good enough" seems acceptable anymore.:D
